Luke Jacksons best position for 2021

Where do you guys think he should play in 2021?

Key forward is the obvious pick, but we might get Ben Brown and Weid will be up there too.   The coaches talked of grand plans to make him a 198cm onballer which would revolutionize the position and isnt an absurd idea considering the gifts hes already shown.

We can rule him out as first ruck of course as we have Gawn, though he will spend decent time there relieving him.  (And a LOT of time there if Gawny goes down.)

One things for sure we all cant wait to see him out there.  His talent level is off the charts.

Re-signing priority. West Coast will come hard for him next year.

As for position, I think he still serves his "apprenticeship" in the forward 50 taking the second tall and chopping out in the ruck. Wasn't sold on him during the draft but have done a quick 180, could be anything.

Depends on his preseason. He looks really good leading up at the ball and has held his own pinch hitting in the ruck.

If he has a fantastic pre-season, both on the track and in the gym, he could be used on-ball at different stages.

I'd go with 80% forward, 18% ruck and 2% as a surprise mid (a role I think he'll play more and more as his career goes on).

I think in future years he should be groomed into a full time ruck/4th mid.

I can see the league going “small ball” with the ruck position similar to how the NBA has gone with centre.

we could be ahead with of the curve!

Dogs have trialed it with Dunkley but it might actually work with Jackson

LJ 19 year old with plenty of upside. Had a taste of the big time in his first year and knows what is expected to do to play a role.

His marking will improve as will his kicking for goal and will be stronger for a pre season. Barring any serious injuries l would expect him to help out in the ruck  and play between CHF and deep forward as a second tall  marking option.

The ideal spare parts man at his age.

Would be great to have big mature bodies around him to take the best defenders and let him ease into AFL footy.

will cause nightmares for defenders if he can build a tank and work around the ground.

will play a lot forward, a bit ruck, and a bit mid

could even push back and be a drop back defensive option

kid looks the goods

I think this could be a good summary of him, Goodwin said he could be the tallest midfielder to play the game and I think this could well happen because the way he almost glides when he picks the ball up and goes is so unique.

For next year I think (assuming we end up recruiting the second key forward we need) I see Jacko rotating through a HFF/midfield/ruck role. Which will hopefully help him develop the variety in his game.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
