Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes that is the point that i shall never forgive

The MFC is so good at outsmarting itself

We are still so far away from getting it right. Although i have some faith in Pert, to do the job

Hope you are right

Thank goodness that someone said it. I hate richmond so much more than any other team in the league.

add to that all of my richmond mates drunk texting me last night ffs.

I long for the days of the 2010's when Richmond were pure dog poo.

We hate them as they are successful & there are only 2 teams left with premiership droughts longer than 35yrs & the saints look closer at breaking it than we do!

He was still a loose cannon asking for a billion dollars a year.
Similar story to De Goey now.

I feel the slap in the face that no-one took the bait is half the rocket up his A... that he needed.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway the Demons can take from this game is what Dimma and Richmond did after halftime to not only "stem the flow" but turn the tide and then crush their opponent.

The Tigers couldn't get their A game going in the first half. The Cats were not giving them an inch and perhaps they shot themselves in the foot by not being further up.

What did the Tigers do after half-time?

Dimma didn't make wholesale changes after half time. He trusted in the plan, a plan that the Tiges can execute very well. They are well drilled and it's very successful.

We are often critical of Goody not having a plan B when our plan A simply either isn't working or is being negated. I'm certainly guilty of this. Goody trusts in the process that our gameplan will work and we lambast him when no changes are made and plan A continues to fail.

Do we need to change tactics? Is there a disconnect between the plan and the execution of the plan? How can we stem the flow.

Sorry for the ramblings. Just feeling flat watching a team that a couple of years ago I thought were a bigger basketcase than us and now they have three flags and I'm whining to a computer.

See what happens when a club sticks with a coach? Not saying Goody will be as successful but if you stick to a plan one day it may work.

Gee Gary Rohan goes missing in grand finals. Only 5 possessions last night.

Hawkins only the 1 and danger was pretty well held.

Can't see Rohan playing in a team with Hawkings and Cameron.

Cats made a huge mistake not playing Dangerfield on the Ball. By all means rest him up forward as he can be very dangerous but for [censored] sake you've got to play one of your best mids in the guts.

I'll add that I thought Geelong got a lot of soft free particularly in front of goals and conversely Richmond didn't get some obvious frees around the ground.

Usually I'm very one eyed watching Dees games and can't tell if the umpires are really giving us a tough run but the last night I had no skin in the game and I noticed the uneveness of the adjudication.

You are getting confused. Richmond is a good team with an absolute star in Dusty no other player in the league is as good as him. They have a good coach who is not afraid to throw his team around when they are not performing well. Versus the MFC who are an ninth place talent with no player even close to Dusty with drive intensity good enough for one quarter coached by an average coach who keeps doing the same things and expects a different result.

Comparing him to Dimma is like comparing Diamonds to lead they are both made of carbon but that is where the similarities end. No matter how much you polish lead it will never be a diamond.

The club just can't maintain a level of winning long enough to either win enough games to play finals or when we have played finals and maintain the intensity to win a flag as we have built a culture of near enough is good enough, Norm Smith said in 65 when he was sacked he told the board we are slipping.....well we have slept so far in 55 years!  We have made 2 x GF in 55 yrs & lost by 90 & 60 pints then went on to fade away playing finals, the fact that Daniher was able to get us to so many finals from a portable at the Junction oval & preseasons across a number of venues using cones as goal posts is a complete & utter failure by so many boards, Ceos etc to get a home base & in 2020 we are trying at Joshs Paddock!

Trac is as close to dusty as any other player in the league.

I share your reservations about Goodwin.

Not a great fan of Gary but I thought it was his job to keep Grimes out of the play.  Didnt even know Grimes was out there till after half time.........

Sorry OD, but I think you meant graphite or somesuch, not lead which is made of...... lead.

I reckon in the first half the tiger were thinking "it's wet weather footy, just kick it off the ground etc" and made a mess of it. It was never bucketing down, but they played like it was.  Later they started playing their usual game which is nowhere near as choatic as some think it is.

Congratulations to the Martin Football Club on their 3rd flag. Dusty has a strong claim to GOAT and he has a few years ahead to cement it.  Those 4 genius goals from nothing were magic. Richmond might have one flag without him.

I'm the bearer of unpleasant tidings this week but the fact is that to win that GF, after that pre half time resuscitation goal from Dusty, Chris Scott needed to instruct Blitz to come off the line Mark Yeates style at the start of the third.  Dimma couldn't complain because it's straight out of his playbook.

Wow. To me that was a clear raised elbow / forearm when he could have just braced for impact. Took one of their most important back men out of the game in the first 10mins. Completely deliberate imo and I was being generous with thinking he’d just get two weeks.
I guess the gloves will be off next GF then.

very glad the Tigers won despite Vlaustin being taken out of the game

He was bracing. Things look worse in slow motion but there was no intent to hurt the bloke

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
