I have the same question BBo. The MFC that I know of have not even said one is under way. Everyone is going on an article from Jay Clark. Some extreme speculation on here and I suspect 90% of it has no foundation in fact. But I guess it the finals time and as usual we have nothing but wild speculation.

"But I guess it the finals time and as usual we have nothing but wild speculation" ...... and ,also as usual, we are not involved!!!

Should have re read that before I pushed go. Engage brain before moving fingers.

From the Age....

Two regional Victorians who tried to enter Melbourne to go to a strip club which was not open have been fined by police.

The men were stopped and fined at a checkpoint in the Macedon Ranges, after they entered a “Stage 4 restricted area to ‘attend a strip club’ only to arrive in Melbourne and realise no such premises were open”, a Victoria Police spokesman said.

Yes, but will he listen and take advice from from those around him?

If he doesn't and the team fails to perform he will be gone.

Mahoney was one of our match day coaches during 186

Now he is our GM

He also did our last internal club review himself

And people wonder why we are systematic losers.

Well if they won’t get rid of Goodwin I’m glad they’re at least looking at getting him top quality support. At least then there really won’t be anymore excuses.

I just hope he LISTENS to them for his sake and OURS.

nothing concrete in that story at all

the general vibe around the trips seems to be mahoney, plapp, and probably matthews go, with richardson moving into mahoney's role

i've not heard anything re chaplin and, quite frankly, our defence was strong this year so i'd be hesitant to shake things up enormously back there

no idea re who they're looking at replacements in the coaching ranks

Would have thought this was obvious with the Forward line and the lack of connection in the mids Resulting  in under Performance from Max's season and our clearance issues.

We used to employ Brett Ratten and Chris Fagin and they are 2 of the best coaches in the league right now. Maybe that says enough about the future of our Senior Coach

There is still nothing official that I can find that there is a review going on. If such a thing is happening it is most certainly looking like an internal review and we know what happens with those most times. Two weeks ago I wrote to Mr. Pert ( not Pertie!!!) asking if there would be a Members review night this year, via Tracy I received a reply this morning saying there would be one but date unknown.

Still no reply from our Chairman  on the review!

I wait in expectation. Ha ha!!!!!

There is the possibility he is having a few weeks off.

That is possible, but one would assume that a review would be needed to be undertaken ASAP before drafting of players / coaches etc. the longer the time goes by without comment makes me suspicious.

Exactly OLD DEE It appears that there will either be no review or a minor one.

As I have alluded to on here previously Plapp is quietly  looking for a job so some thing is going on

Just saw a tweet saying Mahoney is gone. Just relaying the info, no idea if true or not, but certainly seems to be rumblings. I think its time for a fresh face in that role amongst other roles in the FD.

Would think given the season is still going (not for us of course), exit interviews have just happened, players are being re-signed, coaches are being hired and fired, and of course the review is reportedly close to wrapping up, Pert would be quite busy at the moment.

I don't know a lot about the review underway, but given the comments by Bartlett during the year and the pressure he's under; I would be very very surprised if it was a minor review.

In past years there was a date in August that according to AFL rules off field staff had to be notified if there services were no longer required. God knows what the date was / is this year. But I suspect that the date has passed e.g all the North deletions. I also suspect that any coaches that are not required at the MFC would have been told by now they have just kept it in house.

No sorry DD. I did hear some little whispers a couple weeks ago about Dees being very keen on getting Luke Ball to the club in some capacity,  they say he is a FM in waiting so i wonder if there is some legs to that. For what its worth i think Luke Ball would be a wonderful appointment / addition to the club.

If Mahoney is going, it gives me shudders of memories of brutal corporate life when the club's website uses him as reporter of, and commenter on, the recent re-signings, with "WE look forward to..."

And, re the review, it IS Tom Morris / Fox sports (I know, I know!) but...

Hi @Demon3 are you able to paste the tweet or send out who posted it? Love to know where this is coming from. Like that the clubs keeps things close to the chest these days...but somewhat frustrating as an impatient fan demanding progress.

There's been non-official or club-linked talk from footy people that Richardson could step into Mahoney's role, Tom Morris has spoken about that possibility in the last couple of days too.

Excuse my ignorance but what is so special about Richardson? Does not seem to have set the world on fire anywhere he has been.

Don't know tbh. I know footy people say he's a level headed operator, which I guess is handy for a footy manager role, but aside from that I don't really know what his strengths are.

Well good news is we have Burgess signed to a 3 year deal (allegedly). And I’d much rather Pert over Mahoney to be conducting an internal review (though external would be preferred, but no doubt cost $).

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
