Should have known their hearts weren't in it. They all just want to go home to COVID free WA and the surf over there.

Will watch tomorrow night for Supercoach purposes, then the season can get [censored]. Not watching finals if we are not in them.

If only Freo had played like this against us. Dropping chest marks when alone, and kicking crookedly.

Old saying: you only play as well as you are allowed to

They've been put under physical pressure in this game...which has driven a lot of skill errors. Something we decided not to do against them or the Swans. Go figure.

Watching the game made one thing clear: 9th is where we belong this year. The dogs took the pressure when it came, and then they increased their own output on the other end.

We've got a lot of work to do in the pre-season.

Bring on the pre season training reports!

Amazing it hosed down in both our games, and the Dogs get perfect conditions. [censored].

To hell & back to hell

Tea break is over. Back on your heads.

No way are we as good as the dogs. We crapped in our own nest on the back of some lazy losses, consistently poor selection and average game day coaching. Our top half dozen players are ok, the rest below AFL standard. The only thing we got right is the fitness/medical department which only emphasises how poor the rest of the Club has been.

What's sad is the Dockers are playing just like Melbourne. Dropped marks, poor connection between mid and fwd line, inexperienced young forward (Henry v Pickett) giving it a go but no polish)

You could tell by the second that they'd just fizzle out.

Stuff Melbourne how they lost to Sydney beggers belief. It's gonna get harder with Freo, Sydney, Carlton and Gold Coast probably improving. We have to improve dramatically and that's just not with the players we currently have but we have to trade and draft aggressively skill and speed.

You mean the team that almost knocked off Geelong (in the top 4) today?
Absolute tripe in this thread.

Sorry but that’s rubbish.

Go and watch the prelim v the Giants again. Showed more heart and determination than I’ve ever seen an MFC side play with.

Sure and the week after they won the game off the boot of a guy who has done SFA before and since. They had a lot of luck that year. Not taking that away from them, but they did.

Ladder position suggests the doco should've been "Halfway to Heaven"

Empty, so empty, at work and logged on to see Freo a kick away at half time. It is going to take more than a few videos to get me excited about 2021.

We played with no intensity in that game and got exactly what we deserved. Not sure how you could possibly paint that as anything other than a disastrous performance.

Realistically - a mid table finish with mid table talent and a mid table coach.
If Collingwood don’t fluke a draw in round 2, or Tomlinson’s kick fades a little more against Geelong, or the goal umpire doesn’t call for a stupid score review vs. Brisbane, or we don’t get assigned to the human [censored] that is Cairns with back to back 4 day breaks and no bye - maybe we scrape in. But we weren’t winning the flag this year anyway.
I honestly don’t think they are that far off top 4. You could make a strong case for us having 4 of the top 50 in the competition - a bit more class on the outside opposite Langdon, another preseason into Jackson, Pickett and Rivers, and another key forward. Not much to ask for. Keep your heads up everybody.

That's rubbish. You can't win a premiership by luck. I understand emotions in this thread are high, but Bulldogs winning the flag from where they got onto the finals was far from luck. I'd say its one of the hardest won flags I've seen

Two pictures that explain why Melbourne missed out on making the finals and why the Western Bulldogs made it.

Melbourne v Fremantle Round 16 at Cazaly’s Stadium MFC Disposal Efficiency 53%

Fremantle v Western Bulldogs Round 18 at Cazaly’s Stadium WBFC Disposal Efficiency 80%

Thoughts?

Our list is a mid-table list at best, nothing to do with the coaching that we're not in the eight. We don't have the cattle, or anywhere near it. Bulldogs are in the finals because they're a better team (= better players, and more of them) - and watching this only confirms it.

You’ve hit the nail on the head. I can’t recall a MFC team since 1964 that had an adequate number of elite players to win a premiership. We certainly don’t have them now. There’s a few, and there’s a few with potential but we need about six more really top players, especially fast outside mids and forwards.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
