Go hard for Ratugolea and Clark, who arenโ€™t in their best 22 and Rat just got further away. Use Preuss in the deal to a minor extent and maybe Tom and to a lesser  extent Oscar become interesting to the Giants.

Youโ€™re a chance. The Van Djik injury has blown the title race wide open. Its anyoneโ€™s so why not Everton.

Ancelotti is an excellent manager, strong midfield and Calvert-lewin looks primed. My only concern is defensively. Very dodgy keeper.

Petracca will look good in a cats jumper in 2023. They will need another top up by then.

Eagles midfield was talked up as close to perfect with the inclusion of Kelly for 2020.

Things don't always end up as the media predicts.

On paper they will look formidable with Hawkins and Cameron but footy isn't played on paper. He'd want to play with greater urgency than he did this season for them to be formidable

A preseason is a long time in footy.

No guarantees Hawkins, Selwood & Danger all come back as the players they've been this season.

The edge is closer than you think.

Itโ€™s good to see a STRUGGLING club like Geelong can land a gun forward to bolster their lineup.

Thatโ€™s what happens when u play finals consistently and have a good culture and head coach.

Then thereโ€™s us.........................FFS Goodwin and co better get their [censored] together next season otherwise we are screwed AGAIN.

Yep.

They get Cameron, we get Brown.

Its like we're one of the dogs under the table getting scraps.

2021 better be an outstanding year for us.

Something needs to change. Youโ€™ve got a team playing in the grand final with this seasons Coleman medalist... about to bring in a former Coleman medalist without even needing to use a draft pick.

Meanwhile we pay two first round picks for Jake Lever.

That is what it is all about 100%

We, the MFC play the game hard or become nothing more than a Feeder Club

This system of Free Agency will not go away. Itโ€™s what the players want.

The MFC have to become attractive

Goodwin and the FD need to get themselves sorted, now.

Agree, rember the talk about the Hawks with Mitchell, O'Meara into their midfield. Buddy and Tippett at Sydney.

The Eagles got Kelly, but gave up a hell of a lot for him, which may hirt in a few years

The comp is is comprised with all sorts of things the draw, FA is favouring the bigger successful no doubt but look at the lions no one wanted to go a few years ago even the mfc prior to Roos era.. you need to find good people off the field & tigers are an example what can happen...

I admire the bravery of Jeremy Cameron to choose to go to a team playing off in this weeks grand final.

We haven't seen this sort of bravery since Tom Lynch went to Richmond and Franklin went to Sydney.

Not even sure we will get Brown or Smith.

One of the issues when we r so inconsistent on the field is that we are NOT a destination club and its been that way for a long time. I cant see it changing soon either unfortunately which will also affect our current player movements.

Good players want to go to good clubs with good culture, front office and coaching group.

As an individual, who can blame him for wanting the best opportunities and to be back home, near your work.  How many of us wouldnโ€™t do the same?
As a competition, which it is now not, it is a poor look and result.

A big YES on the Clark call, not fussed about Ratugolea.

Clark has future top wingmen written all over him.

Clark as in Jordan Clark at the Cats? Are there any report he wants out or is up for trade? He's a first round pick who's only 1-2 years into his career! Hard midfield to break into down there at Geelong....

Yes, that's the one.

Geelong are linked to Smith (Hawks), Crouch, had a sniff around Viney.  A hard midfield to break in to doesn't get any easier for some of these kids if Geelong continue to look at topping up.  At some stage younger players want to play in the seniors, so while he's a little way down the order at Geelong, it's also $5000 a game in match payments that he is missing out on, could be an extra $100k a year on top of an annual contract, on top of playing more senior games.

The question has to be asked, and clubs like Geelong need to understand that there are consequences for a list management strategy that they have implemented.

Jeez Clark would be a good get. He was brilliant at underage level as a running halfback flanker for WA. Good turn of pace, decent agility, good skills by hand and foot, aggressive at ball in the air and ground level. He could definitely be a wingman at AFL level if his fitness is up to scratch. Don't think we've got the right currency to get him, but you never know!

As for Cameron, he's off to Cats and probably not much to discuss in relation to him.

Serious question, can someone explain how is the competition's fairness undermined by free agency?  Every team has to follow a salary cap doesnt it? Its not as if some clubs have extra dollars to spend, its about effectively managing the resources that you have?

If a player wants to take less money to go to a 'destination club' surely thats the result of the club having other positives to offer other than money.  Isn't that a reward for being good financially, on field etc? Seems more fair than arbitrary zones on a map or academies from which recruit players etc.

geelong have no problems with young players leaving - for multiple reasons. A) they back in their recruiters to steal some stars with late picks, b) theyll get first rounders/top picks in return to reinvest in trades (like gws of recent years but better) and C) theyll just bring back former falcons in two years time when they breakthrough elsewhere as theyve been doing.

Getting Clark across with Sav would be huge, can play off a HBF just as well as he goes on a wing, given hibbos age itd be a great deal

The salary cap is a rort.  I know Geelong pay outside of it, and I'm sure other clubs are in the same boat.  Sadly, there will never be a perfect system.

Salary cap ?  What a joke.  Iโ€™d like to see the Cats books.

The joke is as old as the hills. What you want to see about the Cats is not in their books, that are sterile and clean. What occurs under the table will never be found and disappears like clockwork, keeping all faces smiling.

People were saying Lynch coming in would upset the Tigers. Now they wouldnโ€™t be in a GF without him imo

this signing is massive for the Cats and will keep them in finals for years. Cameron played poor this year as he and others knew they were leaving

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckmanโ€™s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipperโ€™s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0โ€“5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
