Omac did alright for most of the game, plays his role, takes a tall forward, compliments the 1 on 1 style of May vs #1 Forward and Intercepts of Lever 

All up I think he balances that Backline well

Just watch his contests. 

And then watch what happens when the opponent makes a second effort. Omac is still on the ground or 4 paces behind. Slowest reaction time of our entire list with the exception of maybe his brother.

That’s the max temp forecast, so at 5pm when game starts more likely around 24, which according to the BOM app for Cairns “feels like 21 C and getting cooler as sun sets around 6pm. 
That plus a forecast breeze means condition won’t be overwhealming...

Happy to see those numbers and you should always pull people up if they're throwing out false stats.

The numbers I'm referencing were from the Fox broadcast on the weekend. It only included forwards and had Butler (STK) first, Lonie (STK) second and Pickett (MEL) 4th.

Others may be able to verify that I wasn't dreaming it!

With the entire Gold Coast now a hotspot, and apparent background transmission around Brisbane, it’s going to be interesting to see how things pan out - if the AFL wants any sort of crowd at the GF in particular. 

Things could go south very very quickly. 

We could be back at Perth for the GF/finals #disaster

Or they could have a Lismore hub and the GF at Lismore with 5000 people #downtheroad ???

I haven't thought too much about what actual changes should be made, but if Rivers doesn't play this week, I'll be spitting chips.

I'm guessing probably Fristch should be one of the ins and I'd also like to see Hunt get a game, if only to give Kossie a break, but I also think Hunt has earnt his spot and would provide some good scoring power and pressure in our forward line. 

Kossie is also a bit of a tease and I'm not sure I can handle another game of that.  His pressure acts are good and probably justify his place in the side, but he hasn't been holding his feet enough, finding enough footy and/or kicking enough goals to be truely dangerous in enough games for my liking.  Still he's just in his first year and I'm sure the experience playing at the top level is doing him good and one day he will explode and start tearing games open on a regular basis.

On rewatching the Saints game,  I think Vanders should be rested.

Tomlinson played his role on the wing while VDB started each quarter on the bench and only had 62% game time. I know his game time percentage is always on the low side but this is low even by his standards.

He is plugging a hole on that defensive wing for us this year but the short turn around might be too much for his foot.

This is where the coach shows his stuff.

We need to win every game to the season end. Including Grand Final.

So with that in mind we've use the whole squad as and when match ups needed, and structures require. Also player performance must be managed. We must make maintain  our momentum and keep a winning philosophy. This will ensure confidence is at peak.

Does Max play 9 games in a row or does he get rested and Pruess used at appropriate match to ensure he is cherry ripe for the games he plays.

O Mac doesn't get a lot of love but the defence works well when he is in and the opposition has More talls.  Lockhart Hore and Rivers could be used to ensure our key defenders are also cherry ripe. Maybe Lever, Salem, Hibberd etc is restedto carry peak form through the final series where match up required.

Kozzie is inconsistent but could be the surprise element in a finals campaign, use him as an impact same as Bennell. Bennell,  Spargo, Swallow , Bedford, Jones  all play different styles but can be used against right opponents to maximise team result.

Trac, Oliver, Viney,Bradshaw, and the whole midfield may be managed with same aim. The best team cherry ripe for each match

It can be difficult (impossible) trying to predict the final makeup so changes will be on a match to match basis and don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves but all players should know they will be part of the season success if they play their role when required , to replace an injured or resting player. Everyone could be considered for finals depending on opponents.

They're pretty close in a number of their general stats to be honest.

It is very interesting but as mentioned by a few I just don’t think Harley has enough confidence in his body to push at 100%.  I can’t see him playing this year but get a big pre-season into him and he’ll be cherry ripe for next year.

I think Spargo works very hard putting pressure on simply by running at and after the oppo players

He isn't always rewarded with a stat but he certainly puts far more pressure on than Bennell. Same goes for Jimmy Hannan

We missed Fritsch especially high up around 70/80m from goal. Fritsch has good numbers in score involvements and goal assists. I'm assuming he's done his homework and eaten his greens and will be straight back in.

No other definite 'ins' for me. But if Lockhart is fit i'd like him back to play on Papley. Good learning experience. Bennell must have been put on ice as i've heard nothing from him in regards to scratch matches. Harmes needed a freshen up?

Outs: Our major issue is ball on deck from 0-70m out. Kozzie is way off and Spargo is trying to play that defensive role but can't get much of it either. I just don't see the 2 in the same side right now. I much prefer Hannan deep rather that high HFF now. He can tackle, crumb, mark and get in behind. 1 of these 3 needs to go. Kossie for me. Let him have a scratch match or 2 to run around and get some confidence. 

Oscar is a spud but I still think we defend better as a whole when he's in. Will he be needed this week? If they're going to turn Tomo into a defender that can be 2021 for me. I'm not sure I trust him Vs better teams yet. Get him some wing time back Vs Swans and Freo?

AVB is tough and I love him but i'm not sure what value he adds with ball in hand. I'm assuming his 1% work outweighs this. Wagner/Brown were ok given their limited opportunities but not in our best 22 surely.

Hibbo should get up given he played in the last qtr but could have a rest given the 4 day break.

Jonesy might need miss either this game or next.

Hannan is out surely for Frittata - 2 horrible games in a row. His unforced turnovers were really bad.

I'm sure Richo said we were going to look at using a few more players this time over the shorter breaks, don't forget we got back into Qld around 3am on Sunday so it's more like two 4 day breaks in a row.

This week, I'd rest Hibberd (possibly injured anyway), Jones, Hannan, Pickett, OMac and one of Viney or Brayshaw (both looked a little under the weather and I wonder if there was a bit of gastro or a stomach bug, given we saw Viney run of for the toilet after the game).

I'd then bring in Lockart, Hunt, Fritsch, Smith, Harmes and ANB. Trac to play 90% forward for the game.

Then against Freo, I'd be looking to bring back in Viney/Brayshaw, Hibberd, Pickett, OMac (height required) and Bennell. The outs need to see who's in need of a rest or if we get any injuries. 

I know 6 outs after a win is a hard sell, but we have to play this period a lot smarter that the first condensed fixture, cause we got belted by Port of the back of a 4 day break. We need some freshness for the Giants and Bombers in the last 2 rounds.

Simply because May and Lever function much better with another taller defender and without Hibberd there as well, we need extra cover. I know Sydney aren't the tallest team, in particular if McCartin plays back again, but lets not waste what we've been building by completely wrecking the structure. I like Smith as an athlete, but earlier in the year when he was that 3rd defender it just did not work. I agree that May and Lever are generally better with a 3rd tall there, but I think the 'stay at home' types like Oscar and Tomlinson have worked better than an intercept type like Smith.

I like Tomlinsons game better when he went back to the wing, but could be used in this instance. I think Smith would work better against a smaller line up like Sydney's and now we're functioning better overall he could be worth a shot. I prefer OMac in the team, but with the short turn arounds, he's one that i'd manage for this game, as the match up aren't there, and have him fresh for both Freo and GWS who have the tall forwards.
