POSTGAME: Rd 14 vs St. Kilda

Gee, it was good kicking straight. Weideman and Petracca nailing the goals that they did were clutch.

Fritsch will have a bit of trouble getting back into the team with his unreliable kicking, lofty 13 tackles and 11 1%ers for the year.

Just get over your preconceptions mate. He played well

Yeah fair he wasn't terrible. On the upside he's the better of the Wagners haha. Look, I'm not a fan and today was far from the worst I've seen him, and if him playing alright down there means we get Harmes back to where he needs to be, I'm ok with that.

Brown's leads are commendable - not for a goal shot, but to maintain possession and seek a pass/feed. Keep him there as he is going to clunk a few in a row, as well.

Thst courage shown by Brown was HUGE.  After being collected to take another contested mark (altoygh a soft reversal from Max) was my hughlight of the night.

Rare courage

ANB is ranked 3rd. Just saying.

Also, why are you going by total instead of average?

Average includes a bunch of guys including Bedford and ANB who have barely played. So it's a good to consider both the average and total. If I could filter average with a minimum of 5 games played I'd do that. Either way, Kossie is a pressure king!

The stats ignore a lot of his crucial tap ons and spoils as well.

Hopefully he settles down and just hits the crumbing spot a little slower, that's all he needs to do to get his disposals way up

And spare a thought for Shane Warne who said on 360 the other night that the sure thing was that the Saints would smash the Demons. Will have to just sit in his house laughing at the parody of himself hes become while drinking bottle after bottle of his new cologne.

Take out one bad quarter against the dogs, and I think our defensive system has been excellent for the past 5 weeks. Something really needs to change with our stoppage work though, especially at centre bounces. Feels like we are consistently hitting the ball down the opposition's throat, and when we give up the centre clearance it's tough to properly set up our defensive zone. If we could get back to somewhere near our 2018 contested work I think we could actually be a threat come finals.

Also I just want to mention Jack Steele who was a collosus tonight. Almost singlehandedly got the Saints over the line.

That's fair enough then. Was more bringing it up to stick up for ANB somewhat TBH.

Kozzy just needs a little luck with a few bounces, loving it that we have a player who does so much off the ball.

Leadership this year. Brilliant. I really liked the 'we're nowhere'. That's the way it should be. And that sort of talk should resonate through the group and encourage them to keep pushing until the very end.

The last time we had Brayshaw and co in the centre clearances was 2018 and we covered them with loose men off half back for that reason.

Gawn won't face too many ruck combinations like Ryder and Marshall and will be better for the run but yeah we were belted in the middle.

I'd like to have Harmes back in the side purely to play at some centre bounces and give a bit of speed and tackling in that area.

After the bounce he can swap forward, the wing, the bench, whatever!

Strongly agree here. In most games you'd just have him in the sort of role Jones and Sparrow have been playing. But on nights like tonight he would have been very helpful for Steele.

Yeah Richo (I think) wasn’t happy about the reversal either. Very soft from the umpire but really well done from Brown. Those are acts that the selection committee must look at and say, “he gets another go”.

He didn’t do a lot tonight but I think he did enough to get a crack at Sydney this week.

Considering how sh*t we played, it’s funny we were still the better team and lost.
Thank god we’re not Melbourne supporters and have to watch that sh*t every week”

Winners are grinners! I wasn’t unhappy with how we played, turnovers were the main issue that I didn’t like but this game was probably more removed from what we usually see. It was actually nice to see us hold a structure for most of the night.

Get Bennell in. Kosi can have a rest & Hannan needs to visit an Optician this week.

Yeh Harley must be a shoe in this week for Hannan.  There is no way he plays a worse game than that even if he tried.

Viney plays mostly forward for Kozzy.  Harmes comes in for Kozzy (managed for a week) and replaces a fair chunk of Viney's mid time but also pushing forward at times.

No surprise really.
Both basketcase clubs with tortured supporters.

Anyone else watch the boys walk into the rooms and notice Viney in a seemingly filthy mood. He lead the team into the room, walking alone and ahead of Max, the camera then shows him exiting the rooms before the song and he never returned. He did not join in the song. Very odd behaviour ... concerning.

This was covered earlier - Viney had to take a dump. MFC confirmed afterwards. It was a firm stool, according to reports.

Thanks for the laughs.    Loved this quote, "We couldn't stop May, and it's frigging August."     Classic.   ?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
