raised this as a concern pre game that their outside run would cause us trouble.

Unfortunately I was right..

They're all over us.

Blustery conditions and we suddenly think we're a precision kicking team.

This is not a day for kicking backwards or central, conceding ground and trying to switch play, we need to adjust, get more players down the line and get numbers to the backs of the packs, where they are outnumbering us massively.

Panic stations and horrible turnovers making the doggies look good.

Pickett burned two relatively easy chances that should be sodas for a crumbing forward. Gotta get those mate.

Does nothing but turns it over. Dead set the bloke thinks he's playing rugby union.

No point getting the pill if you barely do anything with it.

He’s not on his Pat Malone mate.

We are putting zero pressure on them in our forward half.

hope AVB gives the team a lesson how to pressure and tackle at Q time

Good job goodwin. Letting Macrae, Hunter, Bontempelli and Smith get as much of the footy as they please. Stick a tagger on one of them as set a defensive mindset you hack of a coach.

What will tagging one of them do?  Next to nothing.

It's their structure and getting first hands on the footy that is killing us.  We need to use it better and put far more pressure on when the ball hits the deck in our forward half.

Shocking quarter. System completely broke down. Beveridge is exactly like me. Doesn't rate the ruck position at all. Completely justified. Good move to ruck a mid against Preuss. Need to adjust here.

Lack of tackle pressure evident across our half forward line.

I don't think Petracca or Viney hit a target in that quarter. Get Viney out of the middle. He doesn't hurt the opposition at all. Fancy going for the handball from Gus on his right foot.

Need a big lift across the ground. Get Sparrow out of the midfield. Trails his opponent every time. Midfield needs to step up big time.

FRITSCH = SOFT

Why did he let go of English who then passed for a goal, unbelievable.

That wind is just causing havoc.

However we cannot lay a tackle, man up or find a target.

The dogs players seem to be free and we can't get it out of our backline.

73/27% time in forward half. Losing CPs, closing clearances.

This is not how we want to play (Goodwin said before the game we want it to be in our forward half, Mahony just now in an interview said it's not how we want to play).

Need to run and carry more, get it out to Langdon as much as possible and just dash. The wind is terrible won't be any strong kicking games

a) it will shut down one of their stars and b) show a sense of accountability which wasn't on show by any melbourne midfielder

We look lethargic. I’ve seen this all too often from this club and I know just what to expect when we come out napping in the first quarter.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
