Yes, we could sign him to a contract that makes him become somebody else, other than the person he actually is.

Just putting it out there he's a special talent, was regarded as the next Jonathon Brown, at least have the conversation. Fwiw I would only do it if I had the complete backing of the playing list first.

At the moment I dont believe we can AFFORD not to investigate getting ANYONE who can play. Other teams seem to be able to mange players with issues, and yeah I know the Harley thing ended in disaster, but I know Hogan can play. Simple as that.

Do we need another key forward YES. Can we go into season 2021 without another strong KPF ?? HELL NO

Happy to lay the welcome mat out for him at this stage!

Agreed

Given his destructive recreational habits and how willing we were to show the door, im finding it really cringeworthy to see several of you foaming at the mouth wanting us to bring him back.

Gee Max Gawn would be happy if he came back.?

Well, there's being aggressive and then there's being stupid. What a ridiculous trade that would be. A first rounder and Brayshaw for someone they're happy to move on?

According to an article in today's HUN the big year is next year when it goes up and there are performance levels he had to achieve. Reading between the lines Freo want the dollars for others in 2021. Interesting times ahead

I heard the Dockers have been managing (for some time) the amount of games he got to play in so he was unable to meet the KPI’s linked to both remuneration and contract extension triggers.

Essentially performance managing him out the door.

And the move to CHB reeks of something fishy.

What did he actually do, while at the Dees that made them happy to see the back of him?

I know won't happen but I would try him at the right price. What is the right price? No idea.

i think hogan can be our dusty our dane swan, honestly who cares what off field stuff he's doing, truth is when he's on the field he cares and he gives it his all, he did with us and the last month of this season when he was fit, injury free and playing in the forrward line he looked good, perfect running paterns, good work rate and he was impacting games and clunking them like he did with us. absolutely jesse should be on our list next year, before we look at a brown/mihoceck type

Sounding to me like a salary dump; could come cheap in trade, big in cap.

I wonder how long it took before Freo regretted recruiting him?

The bloke isn't driven by success.

He left a team he thought was on the cusp of serious success off the back of a prelim to join a bottom club back in his home state.

He let Tom McDonald take over as the big dog in the forward-line when he was still the main man.

He's at best half-dedicated.

Put simply, in football terms, right now he's a loser.  The club won't entertain the idea, because they're not stupid.

Freo seem to be on the rise but the Hogan recruitment wasn't among Peter Bell's finest moments

A partial change of body language, is that enough to be interested, i dunno...

The club got rid of him for a reason, and he’s only gotten worse since then both on-field and off-field.

More chance of him signing on with the Melbourne Storm than us taking him back I’d say!

The answer lies here:

Hogan has a clause that triggers a two-year extension, with a bigger salary, should he play about 45 AFL games during his initial 2019-2021 contract. hogan-s-afl-future-hanging-by-a-thread

He has played so few games so far that unless Freo make the finals he can't reach the triggers.

The Covid breach seems to be the last straw and they will move him this year if they can.

Jesse Hogan at 60% is still better than anyone else on offer. Give him a 12 month contract

No.

They got rid of Watts and Hogan for cultural reasons.  They want to be a serious football club.

Fremantle wanted Hogan for years. They get Hogan who underperforms and has several off-field indiscretions. Fremantle then want to offload him whilst still contracted. The mind boggles that people would welcome him back.

Likely when he rolled his car in that quiet side street, which from memory was pretty soon after they got him.

had forgotten the covid breach. Remember his lawyer asking for no conviction to be recorded.

The AFL contracts have morality clauses which he could quite well have breached allowing a free kick trade wise for Freo.

Interesting

If we got him back, one thing would be completely different to last time we had him - he would not be being white-anted by Fremantle trying to sell him an unrealistic heaven in Perth.  So he got sold something - welcome to the advertising age!  If he came back, he would not be constantly having his eyes drawn away.  We might see a single-focused Jesse - and not the disillusioned Jesse he appears to have been in Perth.  Plus - Harley Bennell came within a whisker of making it.  Why can't Jesse actually do it?  If he's keen, and MFC is keen, it's an absolute no-brainer to welcome him back.  The potential win is so great, we would have to take the chance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
