Out of the games Oscar has played in this year, only the Round 1 loss to the Eagles and the Port loss feature opposition scores that were above the average this year. Not sure he was solely to blame for that in those particular games either.

The other 3 games feature opposition scores below average, 2 of which we won.

The last person we need coming in is OMac. Particularly if its wet.

Will wait for the first bounce to see if Pendlebury plays.

A few weeks ago he was withdrawn during the warm up.  His replacement was dressed and ready to go so it wasn't a last minute tweak.  Wouldn't surprise if they don't repeat the stunt this week.

Yeah they may opt for just Lever and May given the conditions.

Intriguing selection night.

He's a long way off being fully right to play. Injury is much worse than reported. Huge game for both clubs though so think that's why they're willing to risk it.

Nothing against Pendlebury personally but if they want to play with fire I hope he breaks down, they play one down, lose the game and he is out for the season.

As I said, I'll believe it when I see him at the bounce.

What are you thinking will be the changes @Lord Nev?

Would only be guessing, especially given there's so many options, but given Preuss was emergency last week then he would be a chance to come in for sure. The conditions may change selection slightly too.

Could be...

OUT: Jackson, 2 out of Harmes, vB, Jones

IN: Preuss, Lockhart, VIney

Go Preussy you did thing. Massive game to come in for as well.

And hopefully it is just a case of playing it safe with Gawn and he isn’t out for too long.

Preuss - good decision, if Grundy plays as expected, they have 2 proper ruckman with Cameron.

Oscar should come in and if Tomlinson can make some sort of contest in the ruck that will be a good outcome. Oscar's defence is heart in mouth stuff. He a lot more reliable conveyance this year.

Think you've nailed it AF.

Dont need Oscar, but Brown could be handy

Jones out. Tomlinson to the wing. Never to play in defence again

Omac in. Plays deep, on Reid. The Omac bandwagon must have broke its axle with people jumping on and off so quickly.

Tmac stays in for Jackson. Plays as a forward.

Lockhart comes in

Viney in.

Maxy plays. But Preuess comes if i'm wrong.

Two players get  dropped. Should be Harmes. Wont be. Should be Melksham. Won't be. A leader apparently. Could be AVB. Wont be.

Spargo and Rivers the unlucky ones.

And thats been the problem with our selections for a while now. Goody plays favourites all right!

Braydon Preuss, this is exactly what you were recruited for.
Go for it.

Seize The Day

Exactly. If he can't fill in for the next week or two at a passable level,  what use is he to the Club?

I'm glad we've gone with Preuss to replace Jackson.

Put TMac in Jackson's role and see if he can at least give us the same level of contest that Jackson was.

Meanwhile Preuss has to make sure he's not letting Grundy dictate the hit outs, and has to stay with him around the ground. Grundy's been off, badly, the last few games bu if he returns to form, he could easily be the difference.

I reckon they'll pull Grundy out and itll be Cameron V Pruess.

they'd be naive to go in with too many sore/underdone players.  Grundy won't like the thought of a desperate Pruess finally getting a run after 12 months barrelling into him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
