Yes definitely some talent there and some good players across the list.

If you ranked the top 50 players in the comp though would they have any listed? Not sure.

Rihht now they’re looking at a top 4 ladder spot which is about 10 spots higher than where I would have had them in March.

Jack Steele

Well done Saints. Was hoping that Port would win to make it easier for us...

If anything, the Saints are showing us that Port are more than beatable.  They should have lost to Carlton the previous week as well.  They are very flaky at the moment.

jack steele is the best run-with player in the competition at the moment, so i'd definitely have him and hill, plus probably billings, in the top 50 players in the game this year

marshall not far off it either

I’ve watched most of there games and have loved Steele this season. Hard as a cats scone and is a tackling machine.

Hill tonight has been ok tonight but he’s been awful this year. Most supporters were calling for his head.

Anyways, I may underrate a few of them but the point I was poorly trying to make is that I’m impressed at how they’re performing as a team which I think is a direct relation to Ratten taking over

Clearly The Hoff is saving his best for us next week. He’s been terrible the last fortnight.

I'm glad he has had a stinker and there is no way he won't be dropped.

Well played Saints.

Ouch fly back to Noosa tonight.

ps very happy to see Brett Ratten happy.

He was initially dropped..

Came in tonight after Trent McKenzie pulled out.

Gritty gutsy win by the Saints.  Bit of class there also with Clarke, Hill & Butler running around.  King and Membury up front doing well.  Back 6 holding up also. They have a solid mix.

Tackling's a little off at times and a few inexperienced fellas letting em down with disposal on occasions but aside from that not too shabby indeed.

Yeah I know, but with his performance he will be going straight back out and we will be spared his traditional BOG performance.

Good to see the saints win.

We always struggle to beat them when they're pus. Will be a challenge to beat them this year. They're playing good footy.

Port are definitely gettable.

wait til 2021...

a close game is a good game, been pretty happy with the footy this round so far

Yeah sadly it feels like he will end up at Carlton which would make them very dangerous up forward.

Might be just me but I am starting to enjoy the season and take more interest in it also. I am watching most games all the way through at the moment, where a few weeks ago was struggling to watch a half a game. Don’t get me wrong there is still some absolute rubbish games but there always is. I am also feeling the season while always going to have an asterisk next to it, it’s going to be more about how crap a year 2020 was rather than an unworthy Premier.

Bloody hell I hope we keep winning.

the best thing about shortened games is it's keeping the games interesting for 'longer' - even if that insane stat that brayshaw kept rabbiting on about tonight has it that only one team out of 67 games has come back from behind in to win - and that was kangas running over the top of the aints all the way back in round 1!

FWIW I hope that the shortened matches continue after covid-19; if/whenever that is. More close matches/less blowouts.

I don't like the Saints much, but glad for Ratten. He has endured a lot ... sacked as coach of the Blues/son dying. He was awesome as Demons' midfield coach.

You think so? Three goals up with 10 minutes to play and 99% of games are over.

It’s a damning statistic on the state of the game. Negativity has taken over.  Might as well give every team 95 points and only play out the last 5 minutes. At least it will guarantee a high scoring game.

Can anyone help me decide - Essendon misery or Adelaide misery?

I guess Essendon misery has the practical side of keeping the ladder a little more open, while Adelaide misery is only relevant as a joy in itself.

Crows to win. Essendon to spend the rest of the season just outside the 8. Or, to quote in anticipation "They were the best team to not make finals all year, weren't they BT?' and 'You've really got to think they'll be a serious contender next year, wouldn't you reckon Lingy?'

etc.

Boy, Mark Ricciuto looks like he’s gone to the pack. Looks in terrible shape.

Turns out he was happy to let himself go...

Brad Crouch has done a hammy.

Good for in a few weeks time.

Bombers could be in strife here

Essendon would have to be the worst top 5 side or even top 8 side I've ever seen.

Adelaide are going to win 1 game for the year. I just wish it was that.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
