Not sure if it’s been mentioned but my favourite part of today’s game was Trac running straight past $cully to win the ball and then push him away.  Loved it!!!

Moment in time, can't plan those things!

Think playing on the smaller grounds is really going to suit our game style this year.

It must be hurting Saints fans seeing how well he’s playing. We’ve had a few early draft burns but Trac looks to be what we’ve been crying out for.

I have to agree with this.  Are Metricon and the Gabba smaller grounds?

Yes it is. I have sent a text to every single saints supporter in my phone asking how they feel about it.

I'm pretty sure the only ground as big as the MCG is Optus Stadium.

Totally agree.

I won't lie - I was pacing in the loungeroom watching halfway through that last quarter - only 7 goals up wasn't a sure thing

But gees I clapped hard all afternoon. LOVED Weid's leading patterns presenting to the ball. We just used the ball so well inside forward 50, it just was beautiful to watch. Lucky I've got Kayo, I'm going to watch it again. Great team win. No passengers.

Thought Frost was one of their best. And I'm ready to adopt Kossie. He's awesome.

All is well at The Manor!!!!

You are still awake Uncle! You were into the Shiraz early in the first half so assumed you would be non compus after that win.

First 4 qtr performance for years. Showed composure when Hawks were coming in the 3rd.

This was the big thing for me. Great first half then hawks adjust a few things, come out cracking in the third quarter and kick the first two. And you think here we go again. Normally we lose confidence but we did not panic, didn't lose our shape and ended up winning the quarter. You could see it took the wind out of Hawthorns sails and we had it back on our terms.  it was game over.

Assume Neale is one and he has been the best player in the comp this year by a distance.

Looking forward to Oliver playing on Neale next weekend.

Finally a four quarter effort.
And the structural changes with a second tall forward and a second true tall defender has completely changed our game. It was a no brainer and I’m glad finally they’ve figured it out.
Jackson being so mobile actually makes us look better than Tmac because he is good at ground level. I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing him and Weid getting the next 3-4 weeks together to see how things develop. Jackson can also more than hold his own in the ruck which is very important as it allows Gawn more time to play in the defensive half where he dominates.
Omac has been wonderful the last two weeks and I hope all the haters can finally get over their biased opinions against him.

Even the most negative demon fan couldn’t complain about that. First class performance all around.

Just wait

The best part is Kozzi has no idea what he is going to do next so how can the opposition predict it?!?

So good to have 3 decent tall fwds as we will need to rotate at times with so many 5 day breaks

Clarkson was actually magnanimous in defeat. Said how good Melbourne was. Didn't make a comment like "they're not that good", which he did after the loss to Jee-long.

I think that's what is called 'thinking on your feet'?.

Good win, but we need to back it up. Hawthorn are in a different place to us. We need to beat a team in the 8 before we start thinking we are out of Hell. Its a good start and the game was enjoyable to watch.

Loved it when Viney smashed Omera in a tackle and got the free kick.

Absolutely loved it.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
