I'm definitely on the King train too mate if we could convince him, but who would you be happy to trade to get him?

King is special - absolutely a developing star. How did we allow it to happen? What were the circumstances?

We went for the understandable defensive post to end the puzzle. It seemed like a reasonable idea at the time. As @Fifty-5 has said, I think it we win a flag or go close in May's time, it was worth it.

Whoever they want outside or a couple of blokes.

I'd nearly say outside of Petracca and Gawn just about take your pick. Ben King is going to be a superstar, potentially already is. offer him a huge deal and be brave at the trade table i reckon.

There aren't a whole heap of players on our list that have much currency and could also be seen as expendable.

The likes of Brayshaw, dare i say it TMAC and to a much lesser extent ANB are the only one's that could give us some value at the trade table. Would obviously need to throw in next years first rounder as well.

But if there was even the slightest chance King became available (he did sign a long-term contract last year), all 10 Vic clubs and even the 7 other interstate clubs would be trying to bring him in to their system.

absolutely the perfect goalsquare player for us and we can play Wright, Weid and LJ all together. Allows jackson to get a weaker matchup good for development and gives max a chop too

We had Frost and O Mac playing as our 2  key backs.   Fairly logical that we chased May when you think of it.

A good coach ( does not apply to MFC ) would certainly turn 2M into a good player . Hogan could also be considered , he was doing alright until he was recruited by freo.

tell me. how are Hogan and Peter Wright going to help with our forward pressure. They're just as slow as McDonald.

stuart dew is rated pretty highly and prefers others to wright, who has been fit all year and can't get a run in the gc17 side cos he's slow, timid, and doesn't work near hard enough

not sure if we should focus on a player who hasnt had a game all year at a bottom 4 club.Big in physique but not a big mark .I also see him in the Paul Johnson mould .Better to do what we did with Langdon and get a player who will immediately add something to the team .

We would probably get Peter Wright pretty cheap from Gold Coast.

The question is...does he play better as a ruckman or a key forward? We need a key forward who can kick goals and ruck occasionally.

Can he actually mark the ball over his head? Is he a Paul Johnson clone? Another disappointment?

Plus I don't want another Mitch Clark disaster. That was incredibly frustrating! All that potential ruined by injury and other issues!

He's a very good and long kick .... but I'm just not sure we can accumulate enough down the field free kicks to make him effective.

he's exactly what we need. jackson and weid both arent that number one hawkins, dixon, kennedy type we need a bail out option down the line who can really clunk one and take the big defender to let weid and jacko loose to roam and lead

wright doesn't have injury concerns; he's just an ineffective tall

IIRC our FD at the time thought he was not competitive enough, particularly given his size. Can't remember the exact details, however I don't think that assessment has been proven wrong

That's the complete opposite to what Wright is. He plays his best football roaming around.

No, just no. Do people who suggest we go for him even football?

That's rubbish Hoges is quicker than 2020 Macca and you know it!

Just say it that you don't want to revisit Jesses propensity to shoot himself in the foot OR his nearly but not quite performances in converting.

My Grandma is quicker than 2020 TMac.

(She's six feet under).

Haven't seen him play. The sun have a lot of good talls so doesn't seem to have gotten a look in. Sam Day has come good this year (If Day was available he would be handy) and King is obviously a potential gun

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
