To be fair, after the 2018 finals we probably thought Weideman was the next King brother.

Is that injury, the club not developing or Weideman not being professional? Or all three?

Played out of position last season, loss of confidence, one foot out the door...could be a number of things. Only the inner-sanctum would know.

Do people here actually want to talk about the other games, or is this just an opportunity for most to find other ways to sink the boots into the club?  Dean Kent gets a couple of kicks and all of a sudden we've let go a future Brownlow medallist.  Ben King kicks a few goals and then doesn't touch it in the second half and we've allowed an amalgam of Wayne Carey, Gary Ablett Sr. and Tony Lockett to slip through our fingers.

To the actual game, I thought it went as expected - GC were always going to find it tougher outside of their own state, while the Cats are a 6-8 goal better side on their home deck.  When Ablett, Selwood, Hawkins, Danger etc all retire in the coming years, they won't be much chop.

I will be pleased if Dangerfield fails to get the ultimate glory. Mind you, living in Moggs is pretty glorious on the flip side.

Dees v Cats last week was like a practice match. Lacked intensity

I watched Saints (v Blues) and Bombers (v pies). The tackling, pressure and controlled aggression was noticeable.

Again tonight Brisbane’s ability to pressure and then run with pace is so different to our style.  It’s a handball or two max then a kick to forward footy.  No slow sideways stuff.

We win the contested footy but then turn it over or move it too slow.  Our talent is equaled by others.  Our list isn’t better than most.  It’s the toughness and intensity WITH THE FOOTY that’s needed

Been watching the lions and power game. It is sad to realise how far we are from top teams, especially brisbane.

The other point is what has Dixon done to orgasmatron the commentators ?

Questions need to be asked who the [censored] ticked off in trading it away for May.

I hear you and everybody else.
but a couple of years ago we had O Mac and frost. We all pretty much agreed we needed to trade for a defender didn’t we?

if we had a crystal ball I’m sure we would have kept the pick for king

Oh dazzle would you give it the [censored] up.

At the end of 2018, when we were the highest scoring side but couldn't stop big forwards to save ourselves, when Weideman had just taken two finals by storm, we should have ignored the key defender who wanted to play for us and instead taken a skinny forward in the draft who was unlikely to be in a physical position to assist us in 2019, the year we were ideally going to challenge for the flag?

Maybe if we didn't do such a stupid trade for Lever we could have used our actual first rounder in the May deal. Our list management has been crap.

What, you can run outside the boundary line, past the mark and keep running there, out of play  until you kick it in and that is ok. I don’t think so.

Nah that’s a bit different story. I’ve misunderstood what you were saying. In that instance it should be a throw in. I didn’t see the footage of what you’re talking about.

Heard one of the Lions’ players speak on the radio the other day, from memory it was Lachie Neale. The main take away from the interview was the point about their style. He said it comes half down to structure/plan and half Fagan allowing them to play with instinct and flair.

Important when you possess talented players to allow them to showcase their skills. It’s working a treat up there for the Lions.

You're kidding right? We were getting mauled by power forwards every week. We needed to do that deal.

It is obvious watching Charlie Cameron at work that he has licence to do what he does best. Rayner, McCarthy and Hipwood the same. Even Stefan Martin despite being one of the oldest players in the game has changed for the better. He is now a tackling beast and his tap work is amongst best in the game and better than Gawn. Very creative, dominant and never does the predictable things like Gawn does that opposition midfielders have long memorised and don’t need to read anymore. I am fuming that Fagan was never considered for us despite the good work he done for us as an assistant. Its like the club want the groomed airbrushed type coach with little substance that look good on camera.

The Freo v Crows game is like watching a demonstration of how not to play footy. Two totally inept teams that make us look like world beaters. The fact that Freo are leading 4 goals to the Crow’s 4 behinds, is nothing short of a miracle.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
