Almost forgotten the meaning of gameday .. I reckon if we actually display the speed and toughness evident in the selection, we will cr@p it in.

Cats 12.1 = 73

Melb 8.20 = 68

Inside 50’s:

Cats - 13

Melb - 64

We will lose if we score the first 8 goals of the game.

It probably won't be far off. Hawkins to kick 5 straight, Fritta to kick 1.7.

As is almost always the case it'll be about which Melbourne decides to turn up.

Yep and that’s why I start drinking bundy select vat now.

It’s much easier watching the dees play with a few beverages prior to and during the game. ?

Cheers to everyone ?

What a lovely day in the Ranges, took the little lads out for some bike park/playground fun. Getting pumped for the game, come on here to check game day..... ppppfffttt who am I kidding I think we’ll struggle. Not enough cohesion with the season/players selection to date.

Looks like the weather will be good for footy

Dees by 39

Handgun Hannan 4 goals. Trac best on

Cats to joins the Eagles and Tigers on the corona scrap heap.

As long as we are there in spirit is important.

Dees, by 32 points. New-look forward line very impressive. Vanders and Tracc give the Catty Puts the nervous Nellies. Danger off the field for medical reasons. Carna Dees.

One thing that will really annoy today, if Hibberd keeps kicking his long bombs to no one that seem to hang in the air forever, allowing the defenders to zone off.  Has he lowered his eyes ever ?

Not just Hibberd but we can't afford to bomb the ball at all...it plays into the Cats biggest strength...but spread their defence and they are in real trouble.

I hope we deploy melk as a lock down forward again, I reckon one of their big strengths has been stewards intercepting or at a minimum interrupting forward movement. I'd get melk to take him deep and away from contests as much as possible, without Taylor I think this is an area we could exploit

Following on from the above point. Stewart is key to their attack from defence, if it's not Melk then it has to be AVB. We cut Stewart out and we're a long way to winning this game.

I dunno, maybe the year he got All Australian?

Nice to see all the 'supporters' up nice and early, lovely day to be so [censored] miserable

Just watch the game, then we can have multiple pages of post game angst, no matter the result

I am going to, get ready to watch the game at local pub

Nice chicken parma, few schooners of summer able, hopefully watch an entertaining game

A Melb win, looking forward to seeing AVB and Hannan, black, sad Nev is not out there, form dropped a bit

Nobody will die if we lose, it is only footy

I've tipped us.

On paper they look very good, but I think if Gawn can get on top we should be able to control the game.

My biggest worry is who is going to kick goals? Would love Tmac to kick a few, he needs some confidence badly

It’s a bizarre season and I reckon points on the board early is going to be more important than ever.
 And ..... as one A Clarkson said , “ Geelong aren’t that good “ !!!!!!

Trouble is, we aren’t that good either.

I reckon we should keep bombing it into the 50, eventually the players will click.

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
