Is there any chance Mckenna was exposed to the virus while in his 14 day isolation at a designated Hotel? That has people who are positive for the virus. On day 10 of isolation he comes in contact with lets say a security guard who somehow has the virus.

I've often wondered about putting all the potential virus carriers in the one spot for 14 days. Perhaps a more prudent practice might be a further period of isolation at home (and testing) if you have been in a known location of infected.

Fair point.

FRIDAY JUNE 18 (MORNING)

FRIDAY JUNE 18 (AFTERNOON)

SATURDAY JUNE 19 (MORNING)

No more than 20 minutes after arriving at the club McKenna is told his Friday test returned a low grade irregularity. As a result, he is tested again and told not to train.

SATURDAY JUNE 19 (AFTERNOON)

Essendon and the AFL are informed of McKenna’s positive COVID-19 result. He had shown no symptoms.

Had been out of the hotel for 18 days when he tested positive. Had 5 negative results inbetween. So, no.

Wish they would televise that.

Why was the player's name made public?  A person's medical conditions are private.

No more injury reports then?

The game could be deferred until post season and would only be played if relevant to finals

(That would be our luck...)

WHEN WILL ESSENDON PLAY AGAINST MELBOURNE THIS YEAR?

Although there is no official word from the AFL, the two teams can’t play this week for the reasons outlined above.

But with shortened quarters, there is every possibility the Dons and Dees will meet mid-week or even after the home and away season and before finals.

A 10 knot nor-easter and 2m swell will be sufficient for tomorrows fishing adventures.

All is good in the universe.

Green tins will provide the scaffolding I need to get over this.

Yeah and he/you wasn't that far off. He was at the club Saturday morning.

Reading too much into the wording, but after returning the low-grade result he was tested again and "told" not to train.

So he may have actually trained...I wouldn't be surprised this was being twisted to suit agendas!

Also, if they got the low-grade result on Friday evening, why was he allowed to come to the club on Saturday morning at spend at least 20 minutes there before being told. Ever heard of a telephone and to stay at home to be tested in isolation???

It was reported on radio he was at training today, but you keep points scoring muscles.

He didn't train at the club today, he went there for further tests. By the way have you reached the full deck yet?

Looking at that timeline the only question I'd have about Essendon's actions would be what did they tell him to do on Saturday beyond not training when the result came back .  Eg. did he go home to a house shared with other teammates etc?

More generally, I'd think it would be wise to ensure no one comes to training until the result of their last test comes back.   That would only require scheduling training and tests suitably (assuming tests results take a predictable time to be returned, as seems reasonable). And it would avoid what happened in those 20 minute son Sat morning.

No, he went there to train, but was stopped when the Friday test result came back.  He was then given a test.  So he would have come into contact with Essendon people, even if he left before actually training.  As I said above, they should schedule training after all test results have come back so they can call people and tell them not to come in.

My post was in response to a poster or 2 who said he trained today, which he didn't.

On the 12th of June a Sunshine Coast man tested positive in W.A. after his work insisted on him getting a new test, despite already having spent 14 days in quarantineI don't think 14 days is enough. This virus is an unknown. It is constantly mutating in order to survive. I fear we are going to be stuck with it for a long time.

What a curse this virus is. As well as causing death and heartbreak, it has sucked out any joy of life. The football season is gone.?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
