I doubt that very much, he would get snapped up traight away and clubs will pay for him!

Freo would be hot on him i recon, yeh its Viney or Brayshaw, I think viney has stepped up this year,ย  brayshaw could have but hast had the opportunity.

why..he's a fourth ranked mid fielder inย  a bottom four club with an injury cloud

Sure someone will take him just like they took Jack Watts but first round????

ย

I use Tom Mitchell as an example.ย  He wasn't even in Sydney's team.ย  But teams knew he was a gun, they got pick 14 for him.

What injury?

He has shown what he can do, Jack Watts was worth exactly what we got for him.

If he got picked up by Freo, NM, Saints, Adel, Carlton, or Syd.ย  He is then top 2 mid.ย  Ya gotta pay for that

Happily trade him.

Has gone backwards at the rate of knots. His career is panning out similarly to Dom Tyson's.

Gone to Freo for sure. Just going through the paces and a shadowย of his former self.ย  I'm shattered as I thought he was one of the players to take us to a flag.ย  Y'know, I'm not sure that the players are particularly happy with the coach.ย  Specific body language (I was at the game) told me a bit last night and it didn't seem altogether positive. Gus included.

Tyson appliedย himself and played with much more heart...you are being unfair to him

You've missed my point. This has nothing to do with questioning Dom's effort at all.

Gus seems to come up often and has taken Oscar's role as a whipping boy.

Viney's Disposal Efficiency last night was around 50 % which effectively meant that even though Gus had a lot less possessions he had as many effective as Viney and only a couple behind Oliver. Plus the ball was not handed back some 20 + times at the centre to HF line by poor disposal. Connectivity, sorry poor disposal/turnovers meant that the Fwds in Jackson, TMac and Weid were not even given a chance to be involved. You can have all the potential in the world but if you lead and the kick that was to come to you is fumbled, dropped, misguided etc .. as we saw last night then you are stuck in middle of FLinders St. without toilet paper.

That highlights the problem in that the only current "big"ball winner who disposes reasonably is Petracca who has jumped Gus as a midfield option.ย  Gus had a great year UNTIL the running past midfielder got cut out with 2019 rules. Plus surely Gawny could tap it OVER the scrum a bit more.

Ok he is worth about pick 25 plus Melbourne picking up 100k of his wage.

Easy to say trade but would anyone do this deal

ย

Heโ€™s worth a late first rounder to a team needing an inside mid. Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™d be aware being played out of position has reduced his impact and would be bullish enough to send a pick in the late teens over in hope of him recapturing his 18โ€™ form as a permanent mid. Only problem is teams desperate for a player like that would probably have picks in the 1-10 mark which they certainly wouldnโ€™t trade for him.ย

I was joking dazzle...apologies.ย I agree with you 100%.

Brayshawโ€™s form has been awful since 2018. I donโ€™t buy into the he is being played out of position argument either. He lacks skill and intensity and should have been dropped weeks ago

Where do we sign

Iโ€™ve backed Brayshaw for a long time. But over the last fortnight Iโ€™ve watched him now slide into โ€œjust averageโ€. ย Heโ€™s not quick. He jogs. ย Heโ€™s not overly skilled. He tackles ok. ย He deserves more midfield time and respect but us behind so many. Heโ€™s loved by the club and by his mates. Trac and Gus are brothers. ย
ย

It would break our hearts to trade him but itโ€™s looking the most likely option. Freo would bite. ย Sam Sturt and Freo 2nd round 2021 draft for Brayshaw and our 2021 3rd rounder.ย

There's certainly merit in suggesting we trade one of our midfielders.

Brayshaw and Harmes are inside midfielders being played in roles they're not suited for.

If that's our long-term plan for them, it's not a smart use of resources. If either of them could be traded for something different (e.g. a key forward, a high draft pick, or another midfielder who varies the dynamic), we should be considering it.

But by the same token, one or two list changes here or there isn't going to fix us. We're going to hold onto the majority of Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Brayshaw, Harmesย and Sparrow. The only way forward is for them all to collectively lift their output.

Trading players in and out is absolutely irrelevant until we get a new coach and/or a new way to play to maximise the playing list and their potential.ย

We can do both.

Essenden are in the hunt for a big bodied mid. They have Shiel, Merrit, Devon Smith and McGrath who are all around that 180cm mark. Perhaps they would offload their 1st rounder for Brayshaw.ย

Saad.

Straight swap for Ben Brown

North already have a midfield of Brayshaw type of players that is why they are down near the bottom with us.ย  We need to take the Paul Roos attitude this trade period everyone is on the table for the right price.

I wouldnโ€™t do it unlessย we got a great deal: heโ€™s still a good player if we had a decent system for him to play in Iโ€™m sure heโ€™d do well. Goodwin/Richardson appear able to turn any good footballer into a potato...

rumoured to be on a salary of over $1M so maybe not... but I like your thinking

We need clean ball users, who is out there we could potentially trade for?

I'd still be on the fence about trading Gus, but I think he struggles to know his place in a midfield featuring Viney, Oliver, Harmes, and Petracca.

We probably should just do it for a pick in the late teens- early 20s, that we can package up with Hawthorns frost 2nd round, to trade to a team that will use academy points, and us land a pick 10 or there abouts.ย

We should chase Zach Williams off half back as a free agent, although St Kilda will again surpass with their prospects and spare cash

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
