A bit strange the clubs involved in tonight’s game didn’t provide any score updates or reports for their supporters. Wonder if it was an AFL directive as the broadcasters were trialling some TV tricks.

I guess the scores don't really matter but still strange that there was no vision from either clubs. We often get vision from training from clubs and/or journos even if just from their iPhone.

Not 100% sure Andy, I thought I read somewhere the media wasn’t allowed in last night’s scratch match due to the trialling from the broadcasters. Might explain the lack of vision from the journos.

I agree that Hibberd is likely to be the one carried over, although the difficulty is that I'd like to see everyone get a run to push for selection. Weiderman needs to have a big crack in this scratch match, demand a spot back in the team. In round one we had an Essendon delisted player come in in front of him and now a 1st year player, if that doesn't motivate him then nothing will.

I assume this will be held without crowds. I would be nice if we could have at least one Demonlander admitted to provide us with score updates and some narrative. Any volunteers?

Neither have Carlton, AFL.com, or any other news sites

Does not fit the 'pot the club at every opportunity' narrative.

Josh Mahoney on Before the Bounce reported:

Weideman And Brown both kicked 5-6 goals

AvB and Hannan played the whole game

Good for Brown's accuracy & Weid's confidence levels (he's shown what he can do, now he just needs to back himself week after week).

Great to hear AVB got through the whole game (and hopefully unscathed)!

Interesting re weid. Im not a fan but Id love t see him step up and at least make Jackson work really hard to keep his spot. The trouble is that these scratch matches really give very little real indication of how a player would fare in 18 a side games. So the step up will be huge for players between the levels. Strange times.

The biggest problem with Sam I think is confidence. He has shown he can perform, he just needs a major boost of confidence.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
