  • AVB accidently kicked an opponent's leg when taking a kick early in the game...
  • he continued on but was limping.
  • It was the sort of accident that could happen to any player.
  • I understand the concerns!

Does anyone have any factual information?

1. is it the same foot?

2. is it the same or a new injury?

Same foot.

Wouldn't be the same injury as this time it's a collision injury, but it may complicate the existing one that he still manages daily.

Good news, should be back for Round 6.

Yes, in November....

Confirmed out for up to 3 months with a broken foot.

Bloody hell he can’t take a trick.

One of my favourite players, but despite all of his hardness he's made of glass.

I'm glad you saw what I did there...

I'd compare his feet to that of a wet tissue.

I think some serious discussions needs to be held around his future. I think the club is all about wanting to support him while he's had all these term injuries, but a time comes where you just have to bite the bullet unfortunately. Same with KK. There were still a lot of talented footballers who missed out last year that I would rather have them fit and firing on our list.

It pains me to say that about Vanders because i love him as a player. But hes been on our list too long for little return.

Any decision has to be made on his future prospects - how much he’s missed in the past is irrelevant other than being a (minor) potential indicator for future prospects. This injury is a bad luck one and shouldn’t be a factor in decisions about his future.

Important player when fit but (sadly) surely this will be his last year. He's 28 and never on the park. Can't keep holding a spot for a bloke who literally never plays.

I agree.

AVB and KK just can't get fit and contribute to the side now or in the foreseeable future. If Bennell can't either (hoping that he shows signs he can) then he will be added to the list too.

We need to think 3-5 years from now and these three have to be left behind (Bennell's fitness excluded if he can get to 100%) if we want to be a consistent top 4-6 team.

According to the MFC website, he broke his foot kicking the shin of an opponent. I know it’s unkind to laugh but I don’t know how else to react. He must think he’s cursed.

Completely unrelated to the existing foot issues though supposedly, so that has to be good news.

3 months seems a long time out for just kicking someone's shin. Would surely at least complicate his existing issues. We saw how much he has to go through just to train the amount he does in the 'To Hell & Back' episode, so it's hard to imagine that same foot being broken would have no impact on it or the time frame he's expected to miss.

But doesn't age become a factor as well? He'll be 29 this year and has only played 7 games in 4 years. Yes injury has killed him of getting more games, but how long is too long?

I personally cannot see him making it back and having the impact he would like.

Really feel for the poor bloke.

Another injury. Have to take all emotion out of it at the end of the season and delist him. Too fragile and not young anymore.

Devastating for Aaron and I'm so disappointed we won't see him for a while... again. Unfortunately this could be it for him, because I'd bet this injury will drag out for much longer than 3 months.

at the time it looked very similar to the injury that melksham did last year; seems to be very similar in terms of diagnosis?

very sad for him

decisions for 2021 will be difficult

Love Vanders and I really feel for the bloke. He's in my best 22 when fit. But it has to be said - he is officially a list clogger at point (through no fault of his own of course). I take no pleasure in saying it, but that is the reality. He'd wanna bounce back quickly and play some great games later in year otherwise the ROI is looking absolutely horrific.

@dazzledavey36 All player discussions are serious... but you know that.  Do you mean - 'sadly' his body is not up for it - and what he can do whilst he is on the list is not often enough for him to warrant a spot - even though when he is on, he is pretty good, and he is a top bloke?

On a side note - considering the climate (literal and metaphoric) of the world and how insular people are getting. If I was AVB (from Tathra) I'd move to Bermagui up the road... if you check the map - you can burn both bridges of the rivers and cut yourself off from the rest of the world as there is no other access... just saying property is cheap.

you cannot carry four injury plagued players as a team. One yes..two maybe but four??

Have been saying for weeks this is a team management issue and we are sadly lacking.

Hopefully in this stuffed up year we can get the balance right because as others have said I doubt we will see a full season anyway.

The Shin Tibia, is one of the thickest, heaviest bones in our anatomy.  Much much stronger and harder than any foot bone.

I'd say that AVB's  'devil may care' attitude,  is more at fault than anything else.
