Neither Brisbane or Geelong to make the 8? He's delusional.

Can't see Sydney making it.

Also could see Geelong drop out this year, ageing stars at the end & the loss of Kelly...

...and unconvinced by Port.

I thought everyone hated Kane Cornes cos he always bags us and doesnt rate us?

17th to 5th would be an amazing turnaround

it's actually the opposite if you listen to Kane he does back us he thinks in 2018 we should have won the premiership

Putting the Dees aside for a second, I like that he's got the guts (unlike Dal Santo who said the 8 wouldn't change) to declare three changes to the final 8 - and there will be three changes to the 8 if you look at prior years.

One of West Coast, Richmond, Collingwood, GWS or Brisbane will miss finals this year. Lock it in.

Can’t see that happening but ill take it.

I can see it happening just based on the following games played last season by key players -

Jetta 7
May 8
Lever 8
Melksham 12
T Mac 15

Amazing that our 3 gun backmen played a combined 23 games.  Out two most important forwards missed large chunks of the season.

We are in prime position to rise up and get back into the finals....   god I hope it happens, 2018 was so much fun.  Its all about finals.  Nothing beats playing in September.

Kelly out is a huge loss for Geelong. With Selwood declining, I have them dropping out. Sydney will finish bottom 8.

I have to admit I love how Kane goes about it. Yes he can be a pain in the [censored] but he cops it right back. Love him or hate him, at least you will get an honest opinion from him.

Not sure if it’s just me but I find Dal Santo adds nothing to my footy knowledge and is boring as bat poo.

Only if clubs start learning how to beat them down at GMHBA stadium.

Apparently it’s also been a “very, very good week for us” according to ol Kane - https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/02/27/cornes-hails-melbournes-exceptionally-good-week/

He’s the equivalent of a shock jock at best, but I found it interesting him saying leadership groups are overrated. It’s not often you hear that coming from someone who has been inside the inner circle at an AFL club.

I was confident we'd make the top 8 until I read the heading on this thread.  Damn him!

He has either:

1) Not watched a single episode of ‘To hell and back’.

2) Refuses to acknowledge that he jumped the gun with his criticism and has a problem with the title, not the content.

Weirdly though, Cornes in his media role has consistently rated the Dees- I think we were his premiership tip last year and he was all over us in 2018.

Leadership groups are useless if they're not doing it on the field.

Not just you. Tries so hard to sound intelligent but just come off as over-analyzing and petty.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
