It looks like it's still not 'certain' (business case stage...), but at least it's some good news.

And we could certainly do with some more of that!

Good news > bad news.

so…. all good so far but the “ business case” , which is surely the main part, we now will wait on til mid 25 to see if it can go ahead?

Anyone with a little more knowledge on these things want to try interpreting this?

Yeah, nothing too serious yet until we hear "construction to start in X".

I hope the wires have been crossed somehow but talking to someone in the Premiers office and they told me that there is no way this goes ahead. I am hoping he just means there is no way they get funding from the Govt but will wait and see.

It's fine our members are wealthy unlike Geelong who needs hundreds of millions of tax payer money.

Business cases have to go to whoever is putting the capital/funding.

Was it always the plan to get federal or state money?

Or is it purely a MFC-MRC private project? In which case there may be other stakeholders like investors.

It sounds like the locals are on board. that is an important step.

the business case is essentially how this project gets funded. The fun part! I reckon we'll need some level of state support. I just hope the govt are prepared to chip in. The coffers are not overflowing at the moment, so their support is not a given.

fingers crossed

Oh well

Feasibility is a step ahead of "concept plans"

Frankly I expected a little more after all these years

Good News    very Good News,   Demons in the Sports pages  again but for great reasons,

It will still take time

Idk why I was expecting a little more than that. Good news that it's progressing but blimey the road is a long one.

Hopefully these news at least help us to have a shot to some good recruiting in the coming trade period.

2030 at the earliest? To see the whole thing built.

Yeah that sounds about right:

2025 - funding sorted

2026-27 - design and engagement

2030 - built!!!??

I'm sure I've seen this episode of "Utopia".

"The wheels are in motion they said". I feel more confident of Babu Bhatt getting his visa application approved than the State Govt. providing funding.

Some positive news 👍

Why is there an expectation that the State Government fund this? 🫤

Surely funding comes from several sources, MFC, club donors, Vic Govt, Commonwealth Govt and the AFL??

Well within the playing careers of recent, current, and future draftees, and increasingly within the careers of future trade prospects.

This proposal (project!) might now gain a momentum governments can't passively stand in the way of with funds denial or other levers they hold (contrast airport rail link).

Where the funds do come from is another question, however.

Do you have a big enough paddock behind the manor that we could use?

Agree BDA getting buy in and agreement from all key stakeholders is a huge achievement, well done MFC that is a major hurdle if you pardon the pun.😁😁👍

When I started High School there was a ‘compulsory’ donation attached to the school fees that was directed to the building of a school hall/ theatre .

6 years later, the hall was opened, and I completed my matriculation ( HSC) just in time to never be able to take advantage of the new facility🤦‍♂️

With today’s news I’m replacing ending school with living long enough .

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
