The club will extend his contract to give him the chance to prove himself. Nice gesture, hope he can come back. Will the club look at another  pre season player to train with us?

well that's bloody tough luck for Neita. i really feel for the kid. hopefully he can come back stronger than ever next year with the club doing the right thing by having his back for another year.

Shame for the kid.  Glad the club is getting behind him.  The training reports were very positive, so hopefully he can come back and show something.  If he and KK go on the LTI, does that allow us to top up with some additional rookies?

From Friday this was one of the reports:

AVB - Our most physical player. Bashed and crashed his way around, including bringing down the non-contact Neitschke. Love having him back. Generally very involved; a full year of him on the park will make us so much better, as we all saw during our 18 finals run.

Hope that didn't cause it!!

Cruel, only thing worse would be him doing it in March. Sounds like teh club will get around him.

that places him on teh LTI list and as another poster mentioned KK not looking anywhere near playing footy again, potentially 2 spots up for grabs for Rookies?

Without making light of the terrible situation for the youngster, i'm now wondering if AVB's contact training in September 2018 caused our 2019 pre-season injury crisis...

That was my report and I would be very surprised if it was what caused it. As I recall Neita got up straight away and continued playing...tackles aren't known to cause ACLs generally

It's hard to express my views without using expletives to describe Aaron's rotten luck.  Hope he comes back fit and strong, with the luck he deserves!!

My sons  ACL was as a result of a tackle! His knee took full force as his foot was firmly anchored on the ground!

Good luck young man!

This game can be cruel. Great the club will get behind him with an extension of contract. Do the hard yards again Neita, rehab hard and put your head down and learn as much as you can whilst you cant play. Reset and see you for 2021.

Rotten luck for the young fella. What a shame.  Pleased the club have will sign him for 2021. I suppose the only positive is when he makes it back in 2021 he will have a more mature body to be able to handle it. Treat him like a 20-21 year old new recruit

Let's hope Neita gets the support & treatment to encourage his recovery to a stellar career with Melbourne starting ASAP.

Having a tough run at it.

I am a bit philosophical and warm fussy about it.

The body reacts to what it needs. Perhaps his body some how knows it was not yet ready, so it broke.

Another year out of the game and with plenty of gym work, his body will mature. With stronger muscles and bones, he will be better suited to the seniors.

Though he will lose the learning curve and be well behind in experience.

Hoping he picks lots up in an intellectual way and can apply it when he returns.

I hope The Ox has an opportunity to reach out to him and support him.

Rotten luck, again.

Same one... ouch!  poor guy, hope he can come back.

Terrible news, terrible injury, how sad to lose an upcoming player like this young fella. I am not optimistic that he will play again - twice injured, same ACL, long road to recovery and a bumpy one, at that - so we must wish him a good recovery and hope that it is the best possible, and that the MFC support him all the way through. However, his playing days sadly seem to be over.

Actually,  it's not the same ACL.  It is the same leg, and the same type of knee injury.

But its a totally different Anterior Cruciate Ligament.  It is but a hamstring graft which failed.  I hope there was nil other injuries to the surrounding tissues.

Lets hope the the new graft is better than this one, which has failed him.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
