Keep an eye out for this son of a gun. Made his under 18's WAFL Colts debut a couple of weeks ago as a 16 year old which is a fantastic effort.

Also in the under 16 State WA Academy squad.

Is Woewy still (assistant) coaching somewhere in the AFL?

He was at the Lions (part time I think). Not sure what he's up to these days.

The problem is Shane left on bad terms and hates the dees, which is funny  because if the demons did not give him his chance he would never  have played a AFL game

No,

Shane has been back at the Dees since and has also reported that he and Neale Daniher are good friends now even though it soured after he was traded.

He hosts ‘Grandstand’ - a radio program on ABC Radio Perth and commentates games for the same station. He’s also the Senior Coach of North Fremantle.

How can anyone be bitter with Neale, and if they were that would melt away if you saw Neale.

Mate read what I just wrote, after the trade went down he was bitter towards Neale and the club in general at the end of 2002. Neale was coach at the time..

Time has healed and both are good friends now.

Interesting combination of roles/jobs. Wouldn't be many senior coaches of similar level leagues also taking on such a high profile media role.

What's he like as a commentator?

That's one way of looking at it. They basically did the dirty on a very talented and loyal player. Tell me how many Demons - apart from Moore and Wilson, both imports - have won a Brownlow. Ok, there's the great Jimma, who else?

I actually haven’t heard him commentate but when I catch his radio program I do enjoy listening to him. He’s straight down the line and doesn’t dramatise situations ala Hagdorn and others from over here.

I think things may have mellowed over time.  I remember attending a QB match several years ago where they honoured Woey with a pre-game lap.  Was supposedly a combined thing, given he'd played for both clubs.  My memory aint what it used to be.  But, I'm pretty sure his son, who was also in the car, was wearing a Melb jumper...  In fact, I seem to recall TWO kids in the car, and BOTH wearing Melb jumpers, which I thought at the time was a bit of a tick for MFC and a dig at C'wood.  Anyone else remember that??

Be a great story but we shall wait and see, East Freo had quite a young Colts side this season but that's common for WAFL clubs to build sides over a 2 to 3 year period and to play a  lot of their younger squad members towards the end of the season.

North Freo had a win in A Grade Elimination final last weekend and come up against CBC Freo in a derby final this week.

Woey's a great bloke and great football person. He's built strong cultures wherever he's been and very professional in his approach. He's not short of job offers and think he may move on at seasons end

And as others have said, time and exposure to the coaching side of the game have helped heal some wounds.

Corcoron was running the club at the time, not Neale, he made all the Mahoney decisions, he later drove Athletics Australia into the ground flogging off Olympic Park and handing a part of it to Ed, he then patched things up with Sheedy and Tird, and took them for a long walk down a short pier.

Agree Corcoran was the architect behind the salary cap disgrace as well.  Massive ego.  Should have stayed at the bummers

You are spot on. He definitely had his kids in Dees jumpers in a lap of honour at the G.

I texted into SportFM a few months back when they were interviewing Shane and had them ask him how his boys were tracking and if father-son was an option with the Dees. He said only one of the boys is still playing, Taj, and is currently in Year 12 at Aquinas and playing for East Fremantle Colts too (not sure if this is the case still). Said that he isn't pushing his son in any particular direction, but has told him the kind of work needed to make it into an AFL list and the rest is up to him. Certainly didn't rule out the possibility of father-son but didn't mention anything specific about MFC recruiters keeping tabs on him or anything like that.

Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
