The AFL power ranking has him at 28 which is probably a very low (conservative) estimate as he came into contention with a bit of a late charge apparently.

Hawks and dogs are also in the market for a small forward and they have pick 11&13 I think so this might of influenced our decision to get 8.

Anybody have any idea what Bonar is worth is Giants can offload him to Essendon tmw? Wonder if we swapped 3 for 6 with whatever they get for Bonar and attach a veto for player we are chasing with our first pick? They would still have to get past picks 4&5 but might be worth’s shot

GWS 1st rounder next year may well be in the late 20s after all the bidding is matched. We should think of the pick number rather than 1st or 2nd round

I'd rather 3 for 6 + Caldwell or O'Halloran.

If GWS really want 3 and Green they need to give something more than 6 and 2020's pick 25ish

If it were up to me, I'd do:

3 for 6, GWS' future first, 33 (Bonar pick via Ess). That's the price GWS.

Then I'd go to Geelong and say how about 8, 33, Hawthorn's future 2nd for 14, 17, 24. 

Hit the draft with 6, 14, 17, 24. Or take out 24 and 33 from above and go with 6, 14, 17, 33. Then I'd even consider trading back with 17 on the night if I can get a pick in the 20's or 30's and something to carry over for next year.

We need quality, but we also need to bring in a depth of selections. We need a quick mid, a small forward, at least 1 young tall prospect (ideally 1 at each end) and some kicking skills. 

Overdrafting a small forward with pick 8 does not interest me. Pick 8 is a nice rental so we can say we split 3 in to 6, 8. Once we get pick 6 and restore our future first and a mid round pick it's time to split pick 8 in to some more useful pieces.

I don’t think we’ll be trading either of our high picks unless they are top picks inside the top 10 this year (ie, splitting 3 into 6 + something).

That's what he's saying after trading up for one of them and with another on the market to sell for a big offer.

If he's realistic about where the list is at and if Jason Taylor has the confidence to nail some picks then pick 3 should be split to 6 and a fair bit more and then we should really consider moving around at draft time. Pick 6 should get us one of the top guys on our board, unless it breaks just right there's no point using pick 8 almost straight after it.

That makes no sense. If we wanted the Geelong picks then there’s no reason to d the North trade. We would have just done the deal direct to Geelong. 

He said that after trading up for pick 8, so he didn’t do it for nothing! He clearly believes that top 10 picks are disproportionately valuable, otherwise he wouldn’t have tried to trade for it! We traded lesser picks or more value to get one pick in the top 10.

Also, if we get a player high on our draft board at pick 6, wouldn’t it also hold true that we would get another player high on our draft board at pick 8?

i would be telling them we want a ready to go best 22 player and pick 6 for pick 3 and nothing else gets it done.

Agree. No way I’d accept the GWS first rounder next year, I’d be peed off actually. It’ll be in the 20’s, essentially a second rounder and complete suicide giving up on this draft. I can’t see us doing any other deal with them unless it’s 6 and a top player, one of their forwards. We need young top end talent, stars, or they can give up Cameron. F em’

GWS will likely finish top 4, so if we assume they finish fourth that would start as pick 15.

Then let's assume there are 6 Father son/academy selections beforehand as is expected, that pick the becomes 21 and effectively a 2nd round pick.

This is our chance to go hard, one of Caldwell, Hateley or O'Halloran plus pick 6 or get stuffed.
