Not enough return IMO.

Pick 5 or a regular starter in the All Australian for Petracca.

I'm not interested in making other clubs better by trading away our assets.

And for comparisons sake, the best player in the AFL in my opinion (Dusty) averaged 24 touches and kicked 23 goals in his fourth season. Petracca averaged 19 touches and kicked 22 goals (this year) in his fourth season and probably spent less minutes on the ball than DM.

Fair enough I dont want him leaving either, but the comparison is not on the money. I remember by Dusty fouth year he was being compared to lethal Leigh. Also much more damaging possessions than petracca .

Smith has no currency so essentially pick 11 for petracca. Add to that, Hawks are no fools. They see he would be a star with them.

my bad should have read all of your post

Petracca is a fatter version of Colin Sylvia.

...much better player than Col though 'Wrecker'.

Already putting more consistent performances on the board.

We should look at potential trades the way teams in the NBA do: you rarely if ever trade with teams you're directly competing against for a championship, especially if they're in their conference or division. Never, ever trade with a Hawthorn, Geelong, West Coast, Collingwood unless you're absolutely, unequivocally getting like for like or top tier talent in return.

Trading Trac to the Hawks for pick 11 and Bruest or Gunston is one of the dumbest trades this club could make at this time. The Hawks are slowly but surely building a squad through trades and free agency, and gifting them Trac would effectively help them rise back up.

We need to be brutal like this. If we are trading any of our core out we have to start demanding currency in return. Pick 11 just doesn't get it done. There is a reason why Pies and Hawks supporters are licking their lips at the prospect of getting Petracca.

Agree 100 per cent with you philosophy on trading. Always thought the same thing. Additionally it has a deflating affect on our Club when you lose players to the top line Clubs. Interest from the Hawks guarantees his, an I usually hate this word, potential. But make no mistake if petracca went to hawks and they say jump he will say, how high. I dont know if he does that or not with us.

Unless he wants out it’s a definite no. And even if he does I’d try to hold him.

Hes one of the only  players this year that was consistent and improving.

Don’t shoot the messenger, only discussing Petracca in the Petracca thread. Some interesting conversation around Trac going on for those who care. For those who don’t think there is substance then don’t look, is not my problem.

Lol, you're not the messenger, mate. You read it on the BigFooty board and have interpreted a single post as 'they are dead-set convinced' Petracca is gone.

Why would the club consider trading him, no benefit.  He’s contracted and he should continue to play for us.  Look at Kelly at Geelong this year, wanted to go home, had a great year.  We need to be firm with young players and back them in for our team, success brings bonds that hang onto good players until maybe their twilight years.

No trade! That is just stupid.

Trac will breakout in 2020... He will slim down and bump his endurance over pre-season to play more midfield minutes.

Looking forward to seeing Petracca start in the center circle come round 1 next year.

Close thread.

That’s exactly what everyone said last year....

...and the year before.

Not a bad place to visit is the Hawks BF board. Apparently Patton has trimmed down from 108kg to 97kg, he’s 5cm taller than Ruff and has  a reach 15cm longer. I can’t find the Petracca bit though.

Hawks fans are suggesting Smith + 11 for Trac.

Would you take it? Would give us picks 11,12,14 and Smith if we traded Trac+ pick 3

If we took that deal we might as well fold the club.

After the Hogan episode on this site that statement almost feels like inviting trouble. Cursed words

ThTs because he is a mid and also kicks goals up forward.

Trac prob needs to kick about 35 goals given the time he spend on the forward line. Would do that if he corrects his ball drop for set shots within 35 metres!!

Disagree, 3 first rounders could be just what we need to get a kick start.

I don’t disagree with your sentiment but Kelly wasn’t unhappy at Geelong unlike Trac.

I hope he stays but what impact will his emotional state have on his performance.

What's up with his emotional state D11?

Trading Tracc would be totally dumb.

Also, young Wattie would be heartbroken and how would Pecktracca feel?

I have heard he is unhappy with the coach.

I am not sure of the finer details but he is definitely exploring his options.

Petracca you're talking about?

I've never seen a public forum 'hear' so much stuff before.  How lucky we are.

The stupid thing is, as far as I'm aware, Petracca and his management had a meeting with Goodwin and Co. They had a robust discussion about his playing future (ie. he wants to play more midfield time) where they come out with a mutual understanding, and then suddenly that's ballooned out to "He's not happy at the club and is looking for a trade." Suddenly, everyone asunder has heard something, but no mainstream media is discussing it?

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
