It is interesting that a player can be accused of being selfish, because he wants to get the ball and does more than other in our side and yet this same player gives off the ball instead of trying to run the field with it.

I rate Oliver as a good player so don't be derogatory to a contrary opinion

Explain the shot at goal in the 4th qtr then? For a so called elite player 20 - 30 meters out?

Im not gong to sit here and analyse video but there have been multiple occasions where Oliver has handballed pressure like a hot potato rather than take the responsibility.

The players deserve criticism just like the coaches. This is a football forum.
Im not suggesting Oliver is a core problem but it is a problem

I can’t find it, in a nut-shell it was Petracca looking very upset at what was being said to him by the coaches. Commentators said ‘He Is biting his tongue there’ as it was obvious Petracca wasn’t agreeing at all with what he was being told and was deflated because of it. Almost looked in tears.

Where was I derogatory? I actually was not disagreeing with you .

Agree Dazzle, keep it up.

Oliver is either lazy or stupid.

Both him and Brayshaw have bucket loads of talent but are carelessly rushing and not taking care with the ball. Deserves the criticism

Perhaps they should start eating sugar again - a coffee and galatobouriko from Oakleigh will do them wonders!

Seriously though, both boys have amazing talent and will be there when we win the premiership

Selfish, really? I must be watching a different game. Our leading tackler and contested ball winner for a few seasons now, the guy who wins us the ball more than any other and always tries to distribute it quickly to teammates in a better position. How much better would we be if we had a couple of class outside players for Oliver to feed the ball to?

But we don’t, so I wish he were more selfish. I wish he held on to the pill longer instead of giving it off so fast. I wish he backed himself more and used his power and acceleration out of stoppages. I wish he lifted, rather than lowered, his eyes in congestion more, and used his disposal in a more incisive and direct way, with more metres gained. He tried a couple of spearing kicks into the corridor last night that didn’t come off and got down on himself - I hope the coaches would encourage more of that. Take risks, back yourself. Be arrogant with the ball. Aspire to the level of impact and ball use that Martin and Bontempelli so often display.

Oliver is a special player for us already but is yet to reach his full potential.

Agree completely. If he was with a strong club with a strong culture, it probably wouldn't have happened.

Last year his disposals looked so damaging, This year half the time he either misses the target or puts the receiver under even more pressure.

Wow, I'm shocked at the number of poster knocking Oliver's overall game.  Clearly I'm in my own football bubble.

Not sure if this will upload Frankie, but here it is.

Maybe Trac was upset because he was just told by Goodwin that he would be rucking for the rest of the quarter!

This! Poor guy looks defeated by coaching decisions. Not the best way to retain talent. Imagine Trac in a Hawthorn or Richmond outfit. I think blame for his slow development should rest on the coaches.

To be fair, Oliver has a point. Fritsch executed a pinpoint kick to a team mate in space; this is not ‘the Melbourne way’. However, ANB retrieved the situation by missing the relatively straightforward shot at goal; in keeping with ‘the Melbourne way’.

I reckon that is why he gave him a spray as he passed to ANB. Clarry knew what the outcome would be!!

This aside agree not a good look but boy i would love a Barassi type to give all the players a spray in lieu of mothering them.

This was certainly selfish and arguably, a little arrogant (happened a couple of minutes after the Fritsch spray):

I'm a fan of Clarry but his disposal was pretty poor last night. Turned it over a number of times and his kicking for goal was s*ithouse. Also, his chemistry with Gawny seems to have waned.

Hopefully, with a good pre-season and bit of confidence, they can all turn it around next year. Fingers crossed!

Damning for the onfield leadership. Jones should have stepped and laid down the law. Instead he walks away as if he don’t care. Nothing will change until he retires or forced out.

I would have liked for Jones to have wrestled Oliver to the ground.

I wish we had more players like Oliver. Not a great look yelling at a young teammate but at least he gives a [censored], unlike the rest of our players and ‘leaders’.

ET the problem I see is that he cared about recieving the ball more than a teammate having a set shot at goal. Not a big deal but shows the pressure the players are under and probably a bit of self preservation.

It wasn't even like he was in a great position to choose an option either.

To me it looks like poor leadership at all levels. A coach who has no idea, captains who are captains based on name rather than leadership. But i blame Goodwin because it is his job and he is useless at it. Obvious he has lost the players.
