Harmes tries to break a tackle in the last, gets pinged and 3 Sydney blokes fall on top of him letting him know all about it and not a single teammate steps in. Yeah, Harmes stuffed up but someone step the hell in and help.

Sydney had a pack mentality tonight, don’t even know what to say about us anymore.

Par for the course

The unrest from the supporters are at Neeld like levels.

Who is going to speak for this utter poo.

There are no adjectives left to describe how I feel about what has been dished out this season. Surely there has to be a response from management because membership will be decimated, as it should, unless radical changes are made.

Given the team we had on the park, I'm just not sure what people were expecting. Seriously. We had a midget forward line with 2 actual forwards in it, is the lack of conversion from I50's a surprise?

People should stop looking for clever reasons as to why we're performing badly. We have 17 players unavailable, including some really key players at both ends of the ground, and we're putting what is largely a VFL-quality team on the park. Surprise surprise, we're losing - and at times, losing badly.

Is it possible to train/instill pride during the off season?

Hope so but it is huge ask, AND would require firstly admitting that the game plan, such as it is, is seriously flawed and needs a total rejig.

Then we need some hard [censored] Clarkson like coaching with NO excuses accepted.

Could be done if the troops really want it.

Wont hold my breath though, as I don't want to suffocate.

I said a couple of weeks in a row we need a really big loss- think 200 points

to shake things up (ie disabuse those of the mind this is an aberration )

Based on tonight's performance, I can easily see a 3 figure loss next week.

That’s our depth, all we draft is one speed players like spargo dunkley sparrow ect

That definitely doesn't help, but the manner in which we just give up is the most embarrassing thing. Teams who roll over like don't win flags.

Why the hell would the kids continually bomb it in then? It's either the stupid game plan or the players are just plain lacking intelligence, probably both.

Calling young blokes this all night on a Friday from your computer says more about you than them.

Who Oliver and Alex Neal Bullen?

[censored] off mate, young blokes are the likes of Dunkley, Chandler, Spargo. 19 year olds who are still finding their way in the system. Did not once pot them at all. In fact I gave praise to Chandler that at 3 qtr time he was showing our more experience players because he was leading our tackling count. Get ya [censored] facts right

Oliver and ANB are borderline nearing 100 games mark and should be be playing like they taking the game to the next level.

The Oliver spray on Fritsch is one of the worse things I've seen from this year. Nothing but a selfish brat is Oliver.

Missed the game. Just checked the final scores. This is my guess how we played.

Had more inside 50’s.

Gave away easy gimmie goals.

Gawn dominated but midfield pantsed.

Missed easy set shots.

Captains played like spuds.

Consistently turned the ball over.

mindless bombing into forward line.

Am I wrong with my guesses?

Gawn did not dominate.

His worst game for the year

Pert walks into the club like he owns the place, thinking he's on a dead set winner, low and behold he's bitten off more than he can chew.

He's way over his head. Running Collingwood was a stroll in the park.

He's a down hill skier, needs everything to be smooth sailing to perform.

Not an ounce of ticker in him.

I’ve been saying for ages that this is worse than the Neeld says, said it half a season ago. In the Neeld says we had pretty much no good players.

We have a lot of decent players in this team and. We are not much better off, in fact I rate this worse. Neeld teams had nigh on zero skills. This team should be much much better. That they’re not is a disgrace.

Hope Goodwin does a Neeld and brings Jones to the presser. He escapes all the scrutiny as captain

If we were showing any desperation to compete and win then fine. We are getting out tackled every single week. These guys haven't even seen what might happen if they genuinely compete in the physicality stakes.

I'm not kidding when I say the fact that there are still people in the MFC community who think what we are being served up is acceptable is the absolute root of everything that is wrong with this football club.

Anyone who actually had the mental toughness to watch the whole game -

1. How did Chandler go?  I  see he lead the field in tackles (9 on debut, equal with Viney and 7 more than the other co-captain).

2. Did Max get any ruck relief at all?

3. What went wrong with Bailey Fritsch - looked ok at the start?  Injured?

Cool mate, criticize their football all you want, all of them deserve it tonight and most of the year, I just don't see why it's necessary to hurl personal insults at them on the internet. It's not impressing anyone.

I followed the missus to the shower with ten minutes left in the final.

Feel better too.

if you got anything left in you, there's 22 players who need you.

I’m 33, which might be young to some supporters on this page, and started following us in 1996. This is without a doubt the worst season I’ve experienced. The disappointment after so much hype is just absolutely crushing.

Something really stinks with this club. There’s something rotting and I really hope this internal review yields something.

Lets wake up.

How many of those would be "best 22" and i hate that term.

Jetta, May and Tmac? Thats 3.

AVB cant get on the park.

Weeds has shown less than last year.

Hannan less than Weeds.

And the rest are either kids, plodders or are cooked.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
