I would love to know the reason why we dropped Hunt, our second highest goal kicker, and picked two midget forward pockets. Particularly when we have no key forward/relief ruckman.

My only guess is to rest hunt. We know he can impact the forward line. Rest him, bring in Spargo and Chandler to see what they can bring. Why not, season is done. Mix it up a bit

Obviously we can all try and be wise before (and after) the event, but given Sydney's lengthy list of injured talls, the fact that we have chosen to match them and go so small could be pure Goody wisdom. It is a night game and sure to be greasy conditions after all.

Or maybe the AFL promotion department asked if we could help them market the game as the battle of the minnows to the tune of 'It's a small world after all'.

On a serious note I think this may be our smallest side ever - Viney, Jones, JKH, Stretch, C.Wags, Salem, ANB, Spargo and now Chandler - that's a club record nine sub-6 footers.

Perfect weekend for a poor performance.  The media will be too busy focusing on the Geel v Bris and WCE vs Rich games.  They will spend most of the first part of next week analysing those top 4 teams, and the rest won't get a run.

It's perfect really.

A Friday or Saturday night game against an interstate club is just plain ridiculous, we dont have the membership numbers to warrant it.

If we were playing as well as last year we'd probably get 45-50,000 tonight, its just we suck so no one will turn up

Thats fair and i am not having a crack at the players we need to play someone, ibut my point really is all about dropping Jayden Hunt, a guy who has tried his guts out every game and had a good year,  and by the averages, he is second only to Melksham of the players playing tonight, even more reason to scratch your head over his omission. 2nd in our goal kicking as well. any way you look at it, its just bizarre in my opinion.

he was good earlier this year but his last 4 weeks he has been in our worst.  He effort has seemed to drop away so it is a pretty obvious omission imo

Has kicked just the 1 goal in the last month.

Amazingly we've only got 4 players who are over 190cm, Gawn, Lever, Frost and Hore. Sydney themselves only have 6. I wonder if this will be in the records book for the game with the shortest average height? Might have to ensure the little league kids are easily identified in case one ends up on the wing in the 3rd quarter.

Not to sure about that Neita. We are but a pain in the backside to media outlets and basically irrelevant.

Imo the heat will come big time next season if we continue to play in our current way.

From what I’ve heard on sen no one is interested in tonight’s game and are all talking about watching something else like a movie or the cricket. That’s how pathetic we are as a club that no one gives a toss.

It’s pathetic and it better change next season one way or another.

It’s strange opening a game day thread on a Friday!

Dees fancied to win by the bookies, I hope they’re right.

Last chance to get to a game unless you’re @Clintosaurus - get along if you can, it might marginally improve our chances for Friday night games next year!

I actually thought I had missed out on a ticket but just got one then. Not sure if I will go or give it to a friend who is going.

We are going to cop it over the crowd tonight between 15000k -20000k.

Not a go at you dees, I say stiff poo to the AFL and 7 about the scheduling. It made sense at the start of the year to schedule this tonight. Sheesh, remember Carlton’s Friday night programming last year on the back of many crap seasons.

With the blues winning a few games this year, they will only play friday nights next year!

You know we've  got a rip snorter of a game ahead when even Titus can't  be bothered  pretending  he has that much interest as to pick a winner.

Cannot believe how many are choosing not to go.

It's a HOME game.

A bigger crowd helps the club.

Pull ya fingers out!

Well pit,  personally I’d rather [censored] myself in the privacy and warmth of The Manor than venture out on a miserable night to view a public flogging

Edit Note. Re the censorship program. It seems one may participate in a flogging but one is not allowed to [censored] oneself!!??

How ANB can get another game over Hunt is just, i don't even know how to explain it.

Hunt has been playing poorly. Yes, we have no-one decent to bring in, but surely we don't use that as an excuse to gift players games.

We are favourites, we dont have a hope. :(

You are right. I’m always excited when the boys run through the banner....I’m not sure how we are favourites with no forward line tonight but I guess Sydney have barely won a game for weeks either

Inside 50 entries tonight should either be pinpoint passes onto leads or low balls out in front for the smalls to run onto

Watch us bomb it in high every time...

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
