Salem - season worst game

Brayshaw - season worst game

Gawn - should have dominated

Harmes - was surprisingly loose

Petracca - an impressive game

Petty - we’ve found one

Oliver - uncharacteristically quiet game

Lewis - an irrelevant performance

Hunt - tried but failed

Preuss - didn’t take chances

Hibberd - just a shadow

Clearly not understanding of Lockhart’s role. Negated JJ all day.

Salem was ok, Brayshaw was career worst game almost.

I think today give us so many chances and I think the players will think it was “an honourable loss”.

I agree Joeboy was harsh on Lockhart. He’s having a crack.

Salem was sensational, are you drunk?

don't normally play this much..  hell...why not..

my apologies it may be more than 3 words

Viney - meat  3 veg , vision of a gladiator

Jones - meat 3 veg , best day behind...now a liability

Jetta - undercooked...gets a free pass today  ( that said...a day to forget )

May - Acutally CAN play footy....how long before  'Melbournised" !!

Frost - strangely among the better.... not a lot of help around eh Frosty

Lever - hmmm...for a man giving directions......look in mirror !!

Salem - Hard to fly like an Eagle eh Christian...

Brayshaw - take rest of year off...hope you get better

Gawn - Poor Max....maggots maggots  maggots

Harmes - kind of danced to a whole different record to most today..

Petracca - getting there.....and then....again... for a bloke who loves the stage...sorry you fluffed it

Petty - Hold head high

Oliver - wtf was that

Lewis - not a mid

Fritsch - must be played forward...must be allowed to play a natural game....this wasnt it

Neal-Bullen  - just go....go  GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!

Hunt - Ya cant win playing from behind son ;)

Preuss - hmmm...kinda feel like he'd like to play a bit more intuitively

Hibberd - just cameos today

Lockhart - got a bit of ticker this lad

Dunkley - just go to your mums dinner and enjoy the meal...hopefully footy isnt discussed

Hannan - a bit of icing...but no cake

Hannan - was he playing???

Hannan obviously is working his way into fitness after a long stint on the sidelines, buts it's been several weeks now and he just looks miles off.

I thought Salem was about our best..?

So, do we start May forward next week??

18 negatives. And we only went down by 8 points.   ?????

ANB : Lacks Pysical Strength

Lewis : Provided some leadership

Jones : the wicket was too bouncy

Preuss: the ball was too slippery

Hunt : Think and move

Dunkley : Learning

Lockart : Learning all the time. Make tackle stick

Brayshaw : Out of position

Viney : Improving

Clarrie: When giving ball by hand ,important to stay around the contested area.

Frost and Fritsch : Costly brain fades

Hibberd, May, Salem : Nucleus of our defence

I stopped reading this thread ages ago, occasionally have a squiz to see if the irrelevance is still there, the comment re Salem confirms this

Question remains did @joeboy actually watch the game?

Mate, I agree with you that the assessment of Salem seems harsh, but why not just say "I actually thought Salem was good and here's why..." rather than taking a pot shot at someone on the internet that you don't know? Doesn't get anyone anywhere taking the personal approach.

I don't normally play either but why not.....my players

Jones: 7 costly turnovers

Brayshaw: Time for Casey

Jetta: Was never going to be ready (haven't the FD learnt yet?)

Fritsch: 50% Efficiency.....ouch!

Lewis:  Stopping development progress

Hannan: Dear oh dear

Preuss: not fit enough

Gus was hurt i think in the first q, was right in front of us, so maybe wasn't feeling the best?

Well what I find interesting from your 3 word summary, is that most of them are negative. Combine that with some charity goals to the Dogs and 14 players unavailable for us and yet we only lost by 8 points at the Dogs dung heap, on a day when they were celebrating their survival 30 years ago and needed to win to keep their final's chances alive.

I find that pretty amazing.

Salem was good. His kicking sticks out like a tropical island in a sea of [censored].

Got news for you.  Frosty has been among the better for many weeks now.  Even the Frost bashes have gone silent.

As far as Hannan is concerned, there was no cake and no icing today, as there hasn’t been since his return many weeks ago!

Agree with Jetta.  Terribly underdone.  Needed at least another one at Casey.  Another obvious selection mistake which required no hindsight as so many queried it pre game.

Oh wait, are you saying he was playing? I didn’t realise. I’ll have to go back and watch the game and try and find him.

Yeh he was about 4 rows back from fence. Never wanted to get near ball so sat in stands.

Not today 'joeboy', his worst in a while.

Thought he was one of our better players...saved a couple of certain goals & generally used the ball well.

A few weeks back when he copped a knock early was his worst game...you knew something was wrong when he couldn't hit a target.

Has done a job the last 2 weeks, Simpson last week & JJ today. Kept them quiet but does seem to be playing sore so may need a rest.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
