"One of these is Adelaide key defender Alex Keath. Keath started the year in what was bordering on All Australian form before probably tailing off a little in the second half of the season, but still appears to be a quality option in that part of the ground", quote.

Maybe so, but imv we need a forward line made up of AFL experienced forwards.  By all means add a few that were fwds earlier in their career or converted from other roles but our whole fwds have barely played 150 games between them in that role.  That Jones is our highest goal kicker speaks volumes of our need for real forwards.

Pretty sure May would have made it in a forward role by now if he had what it takes.  And Keath for that matter!

While a T-Mac II (2018 version!) might be an outside chance, the old saying "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" tends to hold true, especially with most backmen who've already been in the system for a number of years.

If we end up signing more dour defenders (that are unlikely to provide a genuine outside mid run and gun option) i would start having major concerns that this FD is struggling to grasp what is truly needed to turn a rocky tug boat into a first class cruise liner.

Keath a big no for mine.

Crows will want Petty in return, who I wouldn't want to see go.

If the club let go of Petty who is 20 and provided a massive target up forward, thats me done with the club.

With the exception of inexperienced Weideman and Fritsch, our whole fwd line is converted mids and backmen.

Can we have some real forwards please, who have experience in the role at AFL, understand 'forward craft' and can help their less experienced forward teammates.

And while we are at it, an experienced forward coach wouldn't go astray!

completely agree, but who??  they dont grow on trees, havent heard of many looking for a trade

Nieta was a converted full back. Can we get him down at the club to spend time with our forward line?

I’d say the recent rumours that we’re close to re-signing Frost would indicate that we’re welll behind the dogs in the chase for Keath. I think we’ve been chasing Keath with an eye to cutting Frosty loose.

Go Doggies!

Happy with this if it means pushing May forward.

Can't agree Smokey. We got May as a key defender and that's where we need him i reckon.

May, Jetta and Omac were the only defenders this season i trusted not to turn the ball over by foot. And May is super important structurally down back and can also play big and small.

Maybe he can go forward as swing man at times but i want him holding our back six together.

You make a good point, I'm leaning toward your point of view on reflection

He will be 28 at the beginning of next year.  Ha, ha - the club must think we are in premiership mode!!.

We would only chase another tall defender if they were concerned about Lever long term which I doubt.  The article talks about May going forward so maybe they are concerned about TMac's foot.

If we want a fwd I we should go after a genuine forward rather than turn a key defender into a forward.

Adelaide will want our first round pick and they know we will cave in.

Walk away.

I wrote the comment 3 months ago!

Nonetheless, I still believe if we want a forward lets recruit an experienced AFL forward because with the exception of Fritsch and Weideman all our forwards are converted defenders or converted midfielders.  And none have much AFL experience as a forward.

Neitz was a champion at both ends of the ground!  But, he had other experienced forwards around him: Robbertson, yze, Schwarz.  We have nothing like that fwd support.

Different circumstances and Keath is no Neita!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
