Wow McDonald doesn't look like getting near it. Stands under the ball, can't take a contested mark and always seems to be in no man's land.

Cant raise his left arm

Salem's decision making and disposal so far has been bog ordinary placing team mates under pressure too often.  Playing on when he doesn't need to.  Must be the head knock?

Jeffy is barely a shell of the player he was last season.  Sad to watch.  Not taking  tjat shot from 35 out and instead turning it straight over for a 12 point turnaround said it all.

We STILL have no possession game especially kicking out from the Opp's square always looking to play on no matter how bad things are with the receiver we decide to give it to at times.

Time to give Gus a spell in the McGoos for C Wags.  Disposal is horrid and slow as a wet week.

Goody continues to persist with a Fritsch off HB who has failed in this post all year....great coaching! ??????

Wow we should be down by 10 goals.

Skills and awareness deplorable.

Getting killed in the air. Would be nice if weed or McDonald could create a contest. I'm sure preuss would

All I can say at half time is you have to be phuqing joking. What an abysmal performance.

Goody hasn't looked quite right the last couple of weeks.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is the tipping point.Must be horrible having to front up for post match presser after performances like this week in week out.

Melbourne needlessly rushing, loopy handballs over the top rather than kicks down the line to leading players.  Selling teammates into trouble, handballs to stationary players.

F50 entries have been woeful once again, but I haven’t seen anything resembling forward structure and leading patterns.

Harmes from the boundary seems to be the only player with any kind of composure in traffic.  Thank god for Marty Hore.

McDonald looks completely out of sorts, and has benefitted Pies more than his own team so far.

You could say this of just about every game this year.

Same issues. Same culprits - yet nothing is changing, nothing is improving.

Try stopping bagging our players and find some positives.

This is a [censored] disgrace. Aside from Nev it’s our best team.

That’s silly. Neale is our bloke for starters.

True but you cant expect fans to turn up to this.

To all the posters blowing a fuse, it's only footy fellas.  And I've followed this mob since 1965.

We are going to get out marked all day inside forward 50. [censored] dumb decision not to play Preuss from the get go.

Especially with TMac in career worst form

Positives: winning centre clearance 8-2.  Gawn having the better of Grundy.  Oliver playing well.

Negatives: skill level is deplorable.

The selection of Mc Donald ahead of Preuss has cost us dearly, in many games this season.

Also looking very shaky coming of half back, you can’t expect to beat the in form teams if you give them the ball on a silver platter

Ginger looks like a long term prospect. Shows some composure for a young player....

Any chance either of our key forwards could kick a goal between them??

Pruess for T-mac who has not fired a shot all year.

It's pretty clear that we have been worked out (as many have said). Trac in the middle was tried, and Clarity up forward. But beyond that, nothing. "PLAY ON AT ALL COSTS" last worked for Geelong in their pomp. It's not a strategy that we can use. This is on Goodwin

No.

I cant believe how many people forgive and accept Petracca's faults. He is uncoachable. He cannot concentrate. He NEVER comes through when the going is tough, although trying hard, he is stupid and trying to do too much. He falls immediately to old bad habits.

He's probably been our best player today.

Most AFL and even VFL forwards can apply pressure. It’s a bare minimum requirement. If you’re a forward you’ve also got to kick goals. As mid sized forward in particular you must also manufacture goals from half chances and opportunism.

10 in 11 games from a 70+ gamer playing most of his minutes near goal is C grade stuff.

Its unacceptable and frankly amazing he’s not been dropped to Casey in that time.

Again, probably our best today.

He's been sure with his hands, taken good options and is our only forward that give the opposition 2nd thoughts.

Im not taking the $%^# but aside from Hore what would you say?

Would help if they kicked it to him instead of away from him.

Said for years we have poor skills while other clubs made it a priority. We have the contested players and we are winning the contested ball and clearances and getting killed because of a total failure in passing the ball.

Hilarious.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
