Jake Lever - Suspected Ankle Injury

Featured Replies

As per the Casey thread - came off injured before half time with suspected ankle injury. Nothing confirmed as yet.

Thanks for the vague bs. Why not just post what happened?

Only mention on Twitter is treatment to his ankle. Nothing else.

Edit: the Casey game day thread said he was done at half time. Pretty terrible thread title when most people don't read the Casey thread.

If you looked on the Casey demons thread no one knows what happened. Thought I would get all the discussion in one place.

Well if it's an ankle (in the current circumstances) that's good.

Further (hopefully) it's just minor ( read "nothing at all really") and they just took him off as a conservative precaution.

Topic title and OP updated in the interests of everyone’s cardiac health.

Please do tell the original thread title.

Jon Ralph (FWIW) tweeted that it's a rolled ankle and apparently "potentially puts his AFL return back a week".

Rolled is better news than broken. ?

Has been rolled up and smoked by nearly every oppo defence this season

season is already lost, no need to rush him back.

A week off can only be a good thing for his knee imo.

Agree. Relax. One more week off.

Agree with the above to an extent, but FFS, can no a week go by when we actually get more players back than loose them to injury?

I know finals are pretty much a goner now, but it would be great to see us be in a position to put a team of reasonable strength out on the park to start building some good form, cohesion and systems for next season.  As much as I'd love to see one or two of the lesser names we have in the side right now take their game to the next level, I feel like the team as a whole is being held back by not being able to get a critical mass of quality players out on the ground at the same time to tip us over the edge from just hanging in games, compared to being truely compeditive.

I guess some setbacks are to be expected for players comming back from long term injuries, but this one seems to be somewhat unrelated to the original injury and just a further demonstration that we just can't handle a trick this season.

Latest rumour suggests his foot is to be surgical removed above the knee and replaced with a bionic toby greene kicking leg.

Had a better forward line when they were smoking on game day...

I used to love this dude as a kid. He was honestly the best mark but THE worst kick Ive seen at the club . Pull in a screamer and then regularly miss from close in direct in front.  Would put petracca to shame re how many misses hed conjure up from 20-30 metres. Funny in hindsight they still feel the golden years...even though we never even played finals. Hardeman, Wells, Alves, Biffen, Keenan, Bourke, Davis, Molloy, Tilbrook etc. The team is still clear in my mind.  Guess it was the age I was.

He went to the bulldogs and first game against us he kicked a bag from everywhere. I remember one went through from outside 60 m at the top of the posts. My Dad and I were there at the G spewing.

Maybe he quit OD ?

FCS you blokes. I keep coming to this thread hoping there is information on Lever and all I get is people wallowing in nostalgia.  Must be a thread for that somewhere else? Please.

I recall some of the pack marking but the goals were very sketchy so that might explain it Wells ty.

My most vivid memory as a kid was the last second chugging of a shortish stick..just before the siren and stomping the butt into the ground as it went off before the first bounce.

Sue this is critical stuff.  Surely this helps somewhat with understanding the culture that made us who we are today!?? And besides, it does involve the use of ankles ?

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
