PREGAME: Rd 10 vs GWS Giants

I'd argue we were painfully close to being "on" vs WCE, the last piece of the puzzle is converting goals and we're back on trackย

Yes no doubt. However there is still our "chain" play. We turn the ball over at important places and guys like Cameron love those fast entries from opposition turnovers. We need to do a lot more than convert our shots against GWS.ย

In:

  • Jordan Lewis,
  • Charlie Spargo,
  • Braydon Preuss,
  • Sam Weideman,
  • Corey Wagner

Out:

  • Alex Neal-Bullenย (Injured)

My preferred final bench

- Harmes, Lewis, Preuss, Fritsch

ย

Fritsch lucky, but id give him one more game to turn it around.

I would guess most people dont want Lewis in, but we have aย  quicker team now and his slowness can be covered much more easily. We need his experience out there.

How can Spargo get a gig when he didn't play last week was dropped for poor form a fortnight or so ago and gives little.??

That is true. I see Preuss (in support of Gawn) strengthening our greatest asset: Gawn's rucking to feed Clarrie, Brayshaw, Jones and Harmes to feed the forward line. Without some respite, some shorter-term alternative roles for Gawn, he will wear out mid-match. Preuss has a dual role in this function. Firstly, to relieve Gawn of the huge responsibility to last as the key ruckman for a whole game, week in and week out, and secondly, to be a viable target deep forward and thus drawing key opposition defenders away from TMac, Smith, Hannan, Tracca, Garlett, Hunt, plus others when required. He could also be a protector of teammates, a shielding screen, and bring the ball to ground - he is a massive unit to get around, through or over. With the new '6' rule, it may be a legitimate possie for him between rucking tasks - and might also represent a marking and/or clearing role for Gawn down back in 'rest' periods.ย

If it rains cats and dogs or just a little, he gets wet. If there is no rain, he stays dry. Seempill.

Doesn't have a gig yet, they are just including options in case something goes wrong with a number of players before sunday

Bit of a joke selection. Spargo, Lewis, and Weideman have done nothing to justify a recall and have been in poor form all season. If it is going to be wet like the forecast says, I would go small, Fritch, Stretch, Harmes, and Wagner.ย ย

He was dropped for poor form, played a poor game at Casey, out injured the next TWO games. They must be pulling our legs pf.ย

Fritsch needs a few weeks at Casey to find his mojo.ย  He is that far off AFL level at the moment it will be like playing a man down.ย  His confidence is shot, at least down back, and Goody has shown no indication at all that he's likely to shift him forward to his preferred posi.

He'll probably kick 6+ now that i bring it up, but i think Frosty is a good option to put on Cameron. He's just as athletic and quick and he has the rangy arms to match.

I'm more concerned with what the likes of Green will do to our defence.

I received an email for the MFC yesterday saying I can bring a friend for free on Sunday.

They must think the numbers going are going to be low.

Probably because we are playing GWS and our form is ordinary on our best days this year.

No joke with this but I asked a friend if he wanted to go and he said " will you buy lunch and a few beers"?

Hmm rapidly becoming an x friend.

Reminds me of the late 60s. Every second Friday the school was given tickets to the Hawks game at Glenferrie Oval. No one ever took it up. It was all Melbourne, Essendon and Collingwood in those days and to go to the G rather than suburban grounds was gold.

Yes his 15 possessions and 3 goals 2 was utterly disgusting last week.

Lets face it OD, it's hardly match of the round.ย  You got off cheap.ย  I'm surprised he didn't ask for a 3 course a la carte in the Long room!

Ahem, when was the last time he kicked three goals as Jeffy did last week?? Maybe U/12 s

We Have Petty, Frost, Omac, Tmac as talls on a certain wet day. Would be madness to play Preuss.

ย

Canโ€™t imagine anything aside from Lewis for ANB.

Salem plays more wing/mid

Don't worry it will be Lewis that plays. I think we will get smashed. Cannot score enough and the extension club badly need a win at the MCG. We don't play it well.
