Well it was nice to sit on the train not full of severe depression.

You can say that again, and after so many beatings we have beaten the Hawks again. May the sequence of 2 continue.

harmes was cr@p. I'm sorry but giving away 2 50m penalties is 2 goals we dont get back. it doesn't make up for how good he was other than that.

and melksham? wtf was he thinking? I'm so sick of full time afl players having no clue what to do in in clutch situations Blind freddy could see that he either had to find a short target or kick it to the goal line. almost cost us the game. I hope a coach gives him a slap on the chops for that stupidity.

Yes he did give two away but it's a [censored] confusing rule and the second on was marginal at best.

However, other than that, he was our best. Without his positive contributions we lose.

O’Meara was running amok until Harmes went onto him and shut him down (7 touches after 1/4 time) while dominating the game himself. Very odd comment.

Harmes plays best in a tagging role. Why we ever stopped giving him those run with roles I don’t know. First real assignment of the year and he has his best game of the year. Coincidence? I think not.

So....

With 2 mins to go.... WHY WAS OLIVER ON THE BENCH TILL THE SIREN???

He was trying to come on. We are so disorganized with our rotations. Truly we are lost without runners.

Anyone else see the scuffle post siren near M9

sore bloody losers!

Clarkson is showing signs of being a sore lose.  Blunt Clarkson

About the Dees:

"They'll be dancing from the rooftops tonight – but they didn't play outstanding footy, either, today.

"A really good side would have really hurt Melbourne with some of the opportunities we had today – and that's the disappointing part," he said.

"We couldn't sit there and say, 'Melbourne's pressure was just enormous and that's what stopped us from dropping marks and missing kicks and that sort of stuff'.

All that may be true but poor form from Clarkson.

Hawthorn supporters aren’t recognised enough for now feral they are - would say many of them are on par with the wobbles or bumbers from my experience

A few reflections

18.51 minutes of "highlights" overstates the quality of the game

To the bloke who eventually punches  James Sicily's [censored] lights out - I will buy you a beer

Marty Hore's tackle late was GOLD

Frosty's pirourette and outside if the boot pass GOLD

Frost and Hore spoils to save the game PLATINUM

Wish we'd converted a few more of those easy set shots!!

Yeah, we were S#1t

But we beat your pathetic @ss so eat a bag of ××××

An ugly win, but we banked the 4 points, and to make it sweeter, it was against a team that has had the wood on us for most of the last decade.  In the end, our guts and detetmination, combined with a positive mind-set, overcame (frequently) deplorable ball skills and decision making.  Very happy to take it and move on.

Not going to be too harsh on the umps. Frost threw it in the last seconds. If they were paying attention we lose. Oh well. Sucks to be Scullthorn

What your saying is cr@p

Rubbish comment on Harmes. Tagging jobs like his today, where he not only shuts the oppositions best player out of the game but is damaging himself, are almost worth 2x players on the park.

Rama on ABC clearly thought harmes’ 50 was rubbish

It's a dumb rule, absolute rubbish rule.

But technically both were correct.

Listening to 3AW on the way home, they commented the second 50 by Harmes was unlucky because OMac on the mark moved to his right a fair bit albeit fairly which made Harmes look like he was encroaching. Is that what happened?

Watched replay again, not really

Omac shuffled a few metres across but Harmes was running straight through, just needed to run slightly diagonally  away and would've been fine and made it clearer he was avoiding the space

In both cases he didn't seem to be paying any attention to the rule. One is forgivable, but the second is just brain dead stuff - I won'tgo so far as to call his game cr@p... but 2 x 50s for the same thing is a problem

He also happened to kick the winning goal !!

But gee that will get the confidence back up I hope. I thought Goody giving them 4 days off was a bad idea but the break to freshen up may have helped.

If I could say one thing that pervades this website (and it's not about you @dees189227) is we fit what the football club does to suit what   ever happens, even though these things have minimal impact really. And of course, typically to the negative.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
