A little bit of an over-reaction...

Not by Clint Bizkit's standards.

Like praha and BBP, it's glass half empty, always.

IMO saying our list isn't good enough and that we need to start again, aside from being pure pessimism, just isn't a reasonable position to take based on this year in the context of the last five years.

If we struggle again in 2020 then that will change things, but given what we did with our list and culture from 2014-2018, I don't accept that 2019 is enough evidence to say we're cooked and we need to rebuild.

We are deep into our 5 year plan to win a premiership and I think we should go after Shaun Higgins... I don’t care if we pay overs. He is still playing great football and is a weapon! Let’s offer him something he can’t and North can’t refuse.

Is Brad Hill and Ed Langdon possible if we trade Pick 2 to Freo? If so do it...

Could Pick 2 land us Jack Martin and Peter Wright? Is Ben King possible? Let’s throw the Kitchen Sink!

We need to be the most proactive club in Trade period. Ruthless Dees!

Was thinking the same thing about pick one if we could offer one of our best to get the one and two rowell and Anderson to MFC.

If gold coast could take pick 2 and we get a great young player they could get rowell and Anderson and we could take a player who can fill a need.

Anderson looks good as the fallback position!

We need to look at our list and decide who is going to be part of our next premiership and who isn’t. If they are not that standard we must trade them.

Hard to trade too many in one year, olisik...

Has to be a 2 - 3 year journey

We’ve played finals once since 2007 and are currently in 17th having only (just) beaten bottom sides this year after winning two finals last year.

How the heck am I supposed to react?

Maybe we could recruit him early to teach Trac how to kick at goal.

If we want to inject pace into this club, then we have to shed one of our mids.

Could be ... might not be - depends on the interpretation that will be slightly downcast after this season. I'd like to see better coaching ameliorating our consistent woes onfield. Of the three you suggest, if one midfielder had to go then it could well be Viney whose form and questionable playing routines (inviting opponents to take him on, for example) hamper the Team; further, he is not quite the kind of guy we need at the moment as a player and certainly, as a captain.

Hope not. We don't need another small that doesn't hit the scoreboard

I think we are light on for on field leadership.

desperately need a second key forward target to take the pressure off McDonald. need to open up the war chest and chase a big name here.

Bump - this is very much the reality. No point in filling all those gaps with JKH, ANB, Stretch etc. We need to add legitimate skilled players - it may take a couple of years.

Small forward or a tall forward whose just short because he’s about 13-years old?

Darcy Fogarty just kicked 5 goals against the Eagles. As I posted a week or two ago here, he should definitely be targeted as a forward marking and goal kicking option. Aggressive, strong, clunks marks, kicks straight, he’s got everything we need as a forward target.

Big question is will Goodwin push to trade out our first rounders for established players? I can see him wanting to trade pick #2 away for a Hill as it will help him sustain his role as senior coach. No point drafting a kid who will take time to develop in Goodwins eyes.

Butler will be a good pick up. He’ll cost a 4th rounder at most and he applies forward pressure. Won’t kick 40 goals but he’ll be handy.

I am concerned about this. Goodwin wants immediate results. Hopefully Mahoney and co are smarter than that.

I don't mind the idea of trading the pick for the right deal. but only if there is confidence they know what's caused the fall this year and are absolutely sure next year won't be the same thing

We need immediate results. Membership numbers need to be saved. We should look at Sydney, who cannot afford to bottom out. We are now at that stage

I’m all for immediate results if it’s a flag. I’m just worried we’ll overpay and fall horribly short.

I am hoping the CEO steps up once this 2019 horror show is over. He ran The Filth very well for many years, we need that growth right now, we are back to being “The Pathetic Joke” again in the wider community and it has to be sorted this off season

We cannot afford to fall short. We have done that too often

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
