Tim Smith doesn't appear on the MFC website player listing.

Does that mean he doesn't really exist, or maybe in a parallel universe he does exist.?????

Disappointed that they didn't give Keilty a run - he deserves it.  Tim Smith is a very average VFL player who plays a couple of very good VFL games a year.  His skills are barely up to VFL standard.

They are our depth and we need them at this point in time who knows, Tim is due for a blinder .?✌️?!!!!!!!!!!!

His forward half pressure will be import t to our structure and one of our main issues re ground ball gets and he can lead up and take a contested mark

Tim is big and strong enough he can take contested marks and knows where the goals are. Although he has played a handful of games l think his majority of games are against the Tigers and played ok. I think Tim will be important to give Gawny a rest when needed.

A good hard footballer who gets his chance and  will give his all. You cannot ask for more.

Skill?

28 yo Bull from FernTree Gully - don't mess with him.  He'll be told to throw his weight around.

I wonder if Weed will be 2nd ruck and Smiddy sticks to the fiddy?

I think we should ask our skillful players to provide the skill and our grunt players to provide the grunt and our running players to provide the run.. then we might look like we are playing as a team.

Disappointed they didn’t pick [rookie listed VFL player], who is obviously vastly better than [other rookie listed VFL player]. Fair dinkum.

Tim Smith flies for the ball expecting to mark it in one grab. The Weid flies but does not look to be taking the ball lately, just touching it. Tim is a crap kick when in the ones or twos it must be said, whereas the Weid has a fantastic fluent motion and doesnt miss many.

A  goer with mental toughness is better than skill and Tim Smith has mental toughness. He will have a  HONEST RED HOT GO unlike some others.  Football is more than  SKILL. Don't you agree?

Yes.  But you did say "A good hard footballer who gets his chance and  will give his all. You cannot ask for more." I'd like skill as well.

Tim Smith played two really nice games for us last season, before getting injured.

If I recall it was in our two biggest wins of the year too. He was getting plenty of touches, laying heaps of big tackles and doing the ruckwork in forward 50.

No idea what he will do tonight but I like that hes back in.

Gee Nasher, you don't think one rookie listed player can be much better than another. For example on Pies Rookie list Brody Mihocek and Max Lynch or Giants Mumford or James Buckley or Saints Callum Wilkie or James Alabakis or Roos Zurhaar or Tom McKenzie. You don't think one might be taller and better to help out in the ruck, as well as either attack or defence. You don't think one might have better form than another. You don't think one might have earned a chance while another hasn't. You don't think people might be disappointed that the bloke they thought was coming isn't.

Fair dinkum.

I could definitely handle another game for us like that Carlton one.  Might get our percentage back to somewhere over 50%.

... virtually one of our best in that first quarter!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
