Are the umpires scared of dustys dad? They will not pay a free against him.

We arent pressing as high which is good. Yeah it might mean we have to wait for runners to get forward but it's refreshing to not see opposition walking into open goals all the time.

Look... we're not necessarily playing well here.  The dew is making us fumble the ball, miss targets and turn the ball over a bit.  Our forward line isn't working too well and we're allowing the Tigers just to pick the ball off at will.  In the first term we were much better when we lowered our eyes, but with the pressure up we're rushing and it shows.

On the flip side, I feel like we're setting up better defensively and the pressure has been good.  Kudos to Goody for making some changes, both with the ins this week and the way we've set up.  We are well and truly in this game, but third terms have been our kryptonite this season.  We need to make sure we come out switched on to ensure we stick with them.

Every player is having a dip and we look dangerous... both ways,  but still, dangerous.

What the hell is going on with our stoppage set up?  How are we positioning no one defensive side, you don’t need every player running through.  My god some of these problem are things you coach in junior grades...

Will some choke that Harvey Norman voice over please ?   sometimes the remote is outa reach.

Flood gates will open in the third I am afraid. No system at all that quarter, just hanging in there.

Yet another goalless quarter.

We will throw this game away.

And watch him kick a hell of a lot more goals for them than he does for us. 3 things are at play here before he can be blamed:

- kicking inside 50 is appalling

- the rules that apply to us don’t apply to the opposition. They are allowed to block our players from leading up, smack our players around the head indiscriminately and hold them constantly.

- our structures and bomb it inside 50 approach do not suit a guy like him, that’s why Preuss has looked dangerous as he is about 200kg heavier and 3 feet taller, it does suit him.

Cannot fault the effort so far... We are actually defending this week. Tigers are a very organised defence so we need to work the angles a bit more when entering 50... Frost is defending very well...

Liked that Goody tried some different things to start the game. Interested to see what/if there are changes made in the second half

Whenever we weren't playing that well last year we almost always managed to stick within a few goals and then bang we managed to turn it on for a quarter or short burst of goals, setting up the win.

Let's hope we can produce something similar tonight. Sound lucky to only be down by 8

If I’d been offered 8 points down at half time 90 minutes ago, I would have taken it in a heartbeat.  We’re starting to play a more familiar style of football and applying pressure that has been absent so far this year.

We’re in the game.

Now gotta win the game.

Just wish Weid could grab his marks. Hes such a good set shot, but he just wont get that opportunity if he cant take a few.

Agree 3 disposals just hanging around the forward line hoping to take a hanger. Lead up ffs

Our forward 50 work was atrocious in that qtr. That said, we're well and truly in it, and that's not something we've been able to say this year.

We CAN do this, and it would be sweet to take the Tigers scalp to resurrect some fire in our season.

Effort & intent has been better. Obviously Goody has made some adjustments defensively to stem the flow. Forward line broke down that quarter whilst is looked good in the first, we were lowering the eyes & hitting targets, it was all just bombing that quarter.

Feels like the Neeld years, just hanging in there & at some point the opposition will kick away.

Wiedeman is not worth his place in the team at the moment, back to the 2s Sam. Could be Declan's chance very soon.

Good to see ANB back doing what he does best......stuff all.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
