Marty Hore, great game young man.

It was a hard game to watch. We aren’t out of the woods by any means and we have a lot of improvement to do yet. But that was a gusty hard fought win and absolute credit to Jones. Led from the front tonight.

3.2 in the second half to Sydney on a small ground, with a makeshift backline... maybe I am being reductionist - but the system works, when the parts of the system work hard... (two way running, yadda yadda yadda)...

Oliver’s contempt for Roaming Brian makes me love him even more.

What’s wrong with Preuss shoulder??

had him as an injury on the afl site

Just landed in Paris! Scrambled to get to my hotel to listen live....OMG! Picked up the last five minutes and the crew on 3AW were saying that the Swans were:

1. Out played

2. Being toyed with

3. Sinclair was cooked!

4. And I heard Gawny's name and C Oliver's named several times

Fantastic effort! I love this team and Paris awaits!

Night all, soak it up!

Pert: "its good for the supporters"

Would be nice to hear him say "our" supporters.

You're one of us now Gary

Why was Oscar in the track suit? Obviously was poor but I can’t imagine he’d just be dragged but didn’t see him in the second half.

Unfortunately for him we were better when he was off....

Roaming Brian............words fail me

Jones, Hunt, Petracca, The Wagners, Fritsch and the usual suspects all put in

Really pleasing to grind it out!

And Frosty... even when he fxcked up he tried to redeem himself

Is that the first time we've ever beaten a team with Buddy in it?

Yes

Nathan Jones take a bow  3 goals tackles great character from the Co Skipper.  You have your doubters but you    were one that lifted when it was needed.

Frosty you did the job and i hope that is a confidence builder that you needed.

Petracca you are back in town boy. Your knockers won't be happy.

We are good on the smaller grounds now to defend the MCG properly....great effort after halftime by the boys tonight

The negatives.

Sydney are rubbish.

No Preuss no Melbourne and he definitely looks like he’ll miss a few.

The positives.

We won’t go winless this year.

But seriously, Hunt and Petracca were very good, exciting and involved. Jones goal seem to be a release of pressure, we were free flowing after that. You just can’t completely shut out Oliver and Brayshaw.

Overall i I still think we have big issues, especially defensively, but a good win against a [censored] of a team. Hopefully [censored] gets going from here.

I knew this was coming. It wasn’t a question of if, it was a question of when.

Time to refocus. Sydney is not an impressive scalp these days but given the circumstance and the fact it’s was at the SCG makes it highly pleasing indeed.

If we can get 3 to 4 on the trot now we are well and truly back in it.

Go dees!!!!

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
