I would be very upset with the club if we weren't bidding on all of Hill, Martin, Coniglio and Langdon. They can't all be going to Carlton.

sadly they can be ... Ā the brown paper bags are coming backĀ

Rumours are saying Bombers are all over him, and I find it amusing they need so much outside run.

Another nail in the GC coffin.

Still think he would be a good get for the Dees

Has gone MIA this year. Not one who you could count on to turn the ship around when it goes pear shaped.

Would fit but the price is the entire discussion here. i suspect he'd want serious $$ and the suns would want serious compensation which probably rules us out.Ā

I’m not sure about Martin. Has all the tools to be a serious talent, but imo lacks the desire/hunger. Not worth the $ and trade cost

I know he has talent and skill set we need but Has he ever put together a run of good games? He gets injured a bit too I think, not having followed him in particular.Ā

Good talent but isn't quick enough or a natural crumber for mine.

I've always rated this kid and would love him at the club.Ā  Play him as a HFF/Wing.Ā  He's very good over his head, a good kick and can win his own ball when he needs to.Ā  He'd be a great get for us.Ā

Sadly, I'm still backing the Hawks to get his signature.Ā

Would come with a big cost, both draft picks and contract for someone who's clearly very talented but hasn't harnessed it to become a good player. He's really in the mould of Sylvia and Watts, he'd be the whipping boy on here in no time! GC should want a late 1st for him but on output is only worth a late second, so I think we're being counted out as we've only got the early 1st and our 2nd will be going for Langdon and is a bit high for Martin.Ā

Hard not jump the gun just yet given trade period hasn't started but given our style of play and list overall, it's of great interest that our names weren't even mentioned when he declared he wanted out of the gold coast.

I'd love to know why.

Are we not crying out for a player with the class, x-factor and ability of Martin?Ā

I'd argue it's the thing we're missing most. Much more so than a lack of 'run'. I mean, losing the prelim to West Coast in the manner we did was due to inherent flaws in our play and in certain players' profiles. Not because of a lack of run.Ā

A team will always look slow when it continues to make unforced errors.Ā

Carlton will potentially leap frog us next year. Whilst their list is young, it is far more balanced than ours and now they've added cream.Ā

Early days of course, but the difference between us and the best teams in the come is completely and wholly a skill and execution thing. Any player who can create and kick goals from limited opportunities should be on our radar.Ā

We've lost one in Martin.Ā

Were we ever in the race, though?Ā Ā

Did we register interest early, got told of his demands and politely declined to pursue him as he cost too much?Ā  It's been hinted that the Dogs were offering him some big bucks, so you would assume he will be handsomely rewarded by the Blues as well.

I agree that we need some X-factor, pace etc on our list, and Martin does tick those boxes, but we may never have been in the running to begin with.

And if it were to come out that we didn't even ask the question, then I'd find that very disappointing.

I don't know the intricacies, but looking at Carlton's list vs ours, I'm not sure they'd have a great deal more cap space than us.Ā

I'm just hoping there's something or someone else at play.Ā

Martin is a game winner at his best.Ā

Supporters need to go back and read the Jake Melksham thread if they want a refresher.Ā

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
