What do you guys think will be be the crowd size for tomorrow's game?

Considering we had massive turn outs for the finals you'd think we'd get a decent crowd in for the first game of the year at a friendly day and time. Will we crack the 40,000 mark? What's a pass mark?

I'd hope that we go past the 40,000 mark on the back of the wonderful season we had in 2018 and with the hope of the season ahead.

I would also like to see all the people who didn't sign up last year but were begging for membership barcodes at finals time get off their asses and buy a membership.

we got 37k against GWS for the last game in 2018.

Would expect a similar crowd. Port could have some travelling supporters so we may break the 40k barrier

You'd think port have a bigger traveling fan base than the orange militia.

The rail disruption may impact. I’m going to park my car behind the goals.

Perhaps the AFL or the State Government can reimburse the clubs for loss of revenue (gate receipts/memberships) during this disruption period.

We will easily crack 40K for round 1 Sat arvo at the G

our last two games at the G have been over 90K  ?

Agree. I think it is a big issue. I know a few people who would go if not for the train problem. A bus from Pakenham - really!

agree.. maybe 2-3k and that is why I think just on 40k.

If you recall the GWS game was on the back of us making the finals etc so it probably saw  a fair few of the armchair supporters etc.

If we got 45k it would be a wonderful result but I can't see it happening.

35k would be the pass mark

Good question DL.

I am thinking 40,000 looking at weather interest and membership sales so far and interest ie Maxy's 100th plus 2 new recruits which always add interest ( even allowing for rather normal backgrounds vs say Stephen May and his profile ability and persona.

However now that this game has been promoted as The Welcome Game another 5/6,000 new fans should be added based on figures vs Saints in 2017 and 2018.

In addition I just have a feel that the MCC quota given the Finals figures may rise higher than before so I'm plumping for 45,000 plus on a good sunny day with no rain.

PS Power May add support with 500/1,000 fans but if it was the Crows I feel we'd be about 50,000. (Let's not get them scheduled in NT again fir a while).

Here's hoping

high 20's/low 30's.

Port aren't a good drawing side.

Dees fans no longer will be as picky esp as it is the first Round and see my post why.

I believe the total disruption of train and tram services from almost everywhere south of the city will be huge.

So much stuffing around, concern about parking alternatives and everything else associated with getting to the G will impact the crowd.

To my recollection, this has never happened before, and even if it did,  you could always park at the G in the one days.

I am thinking 5,000 less will attend when non regular commuters become aware of the challenge they face.

As for getting home by public transport, l expect that will be even more confronting and painful (perhaps not if we win?).

MCC predicting 40,000 for the game.

Nice weather, us on the way up - going with 42,151

those to the south could drive to the south/east and pickup a belgrave/lilydale line. e.g. box hill/surrey hills to richmond is about 22 mins and that is NOT the express.

Collingwood got 46,286 to their Saturday 1.45pm game against Port in mid-August last year.

If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I'd be happy if we pass 40,000 but expect 35,000 is more likely. Less if it rains.

I hope it will be at least 40,000. Although watching football in 32 degree heat doesn't seem quite right. Hopefully everybody doesn't head off to the beach! Believe Melbourne supporters are champing at the bit and eager to see the boys in action. It has been a long summer. Too many weeks of mulling over what went wrong in the Prelim and agonizing over what could have been. Time to start a new year full of optimism. A win would be the best start! Hope to see everybody at the MCG tomorrow!
