Round 1 Non MFC games

just wondering what people would wish for out of this round.

Should we go for the breakaway concept a la 2016 where the final 8 was pretty well set by the bye round or do we want a close struggle.

Will 16 games get fourth position etc.

At this point I favour the break away group so I will go with Richmond, Collingwood, MFC, Adelaide and the Eagles.

The remaining four games are relatively neutral but I would like to see GWS thrash the Bombers.

Dockers v North would have been interesting but without Jesse my interest has waned.

So long as we've got the top spot sewn up 'Diamond', the rest can please themselves...

Boos debuting 6...

Some talk on the radio about having the Grand Final rematch the first game of every season, much like the EPL do.

Not a bad idea....?......would be better than this every season.

Unfortunately the history of the MFC does not support that outcome but I'm willing to experience it for the first time in my life

Interested to see if GWS have the welcoming committee out for Shiel’s return. Wonder if we will hear the boo.

there'll be more peptides board members there than there are rusted on gw$ oranjes

the scum v carltank - very interested to see if carltank are more competitive in 2019, but think tiggas will be too good
the filth v puddy tatts - should be us not the cats playing in a big friday night game, expecting eddie's mob will get it done
our game - who knows, i remain positively hopeful / hopefully positive
the cows v poos&wees - can't underestimate little napolean, but expecting crows to be pretty strong this year
footscray v cola - fully expecting swans will do a number on the dogs, buddy or no buddy
bears v meth coke - everyone is expecting bears to climb this year, but i'm less certain tbh
aints v gc17 - wow, talk about a sunday 1pm game...toss of the coin, i'll go for the franchise in a quasi-upset
gw$ v peptides - not sure about either of these sides ahead of this season, but think the franchise will be too strong
jokers v the future tassie - reckon ben brown could boot a bag here, even without jacobs to take care of fyfe

I'm keen to see how the new rules are used to change the game up, and how teams respond.  Think there has been sone ducks and drakes with the kick ins in particular.

I am not keen to see the maggots destroy games with their one sided, biased umpiring.  ie Rance, Danger, Blabblett, Dusty etc all get free passes.

I think the match tonight will be much closer as the Blues have improved.

Really hoping/praying the Blues get up in some miracle tonight, not only does it take a win off the Tigers, I really don't think I could stand Adelaide finishing top 4 this year and getting a top 2 pick in this years draft.

But in all seriousness, surely Carlton lose the season opener if they are putrid again this year? I'll be really disappointed if I am turning this game off at half time.

Have they?

huge amount of Debutants playing tonight.

Could be a complete smashing.

That said i hope you are right, it would be great to start the year off with a real close game.

Commentators absolutely salivating over Sam Walsh... after he hit a 30 metre pass.  You would see it 100 times in a game, yet for Sam Walsh, it was unbelievable stuff.

yeah not wrong, don't remember the same for watts?

Yawn....

How many years in a row has this happened, too?  When do the AFL stop gifting Carlton this game and actually give it to a team who could make it competitive?

I know I'm going early as the Blues might make a come... nah, who am I kidding.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
