Getting to Casey Fields

Car

Casey Fields is located approximately 50km from Melbourne CBD in Cranbourne East.

Plenty of parking is available around Casey Fields. with parking signs and attendants to assist you to find a spot.

If you're driving, it is recommended that you arrive as early as possible to secure a park and avoid long queues entering the ground. 

And if you're not in a rush to get home, stick around and catch our Academy U15s take the field from 7.30pm.

Public Transport

Catch a a train to Cranbourne Station, which is located 5km from Casey Fields. From the station, catch the 897 bus to Casey Fields.

Daisy Demon

Our mascot Daisy Demon will be doing the rounds pre-game, available for high-fives and photo opportunities!

The canteen will also be open at the main stand, serviving food and drinks.

If we make it through this weekend's game unscathed, then we should be going in to Round 1 with a pretty much full strength side, which is really positive.  I know we started the pre-season late and had numerous off season surgeries, but it seems as though the medical and fitness staff have got a lot right to put us in a good position for Round 1.

Also good to hear that Garlett may only miss a few weeks, as I think he might be a chance to play against Port in a few weeks time.

Won't play in Round 1 Didn't shine or getvenough gamectime yesterday.

Back through Casey and form of Spargo etc. and his form and teams will decide how quick an opportunity arises.

it’s be good to see Pruess have another solid crack at it and let a few of the younger ones who stood out last week to go again too - limited minutes for our premiums please..

be interesting to see what major changes they go with given the expected whopping changes that might happen - all of may, jones, lewis, viney, gawn, hibberd, melksham, vandenberg, and jetta are expected to be back 'in', with a couple mooted to come back via a vfl hitout

given that only garlett appeared to be injured this week, if they do bring all those nine back through the seniors that means they might need to make a further eight changes if not more if they choose to go in with a reduced playing list to get a more realistic hit-out ahead of the season proper

I would expect that jones, viney, May and maybe Melksham to play limited minutes coming back from injury, maybe try Gawn preuss 50/50 ruck/forward see how that looks 

I wouldn’t bother playing Gawn this week. He was best on ground in the prac match so for mine he is in good touch. I see no benefit in running him around in a meaningless match.

Give Preuss a chance to show a bit more and give Keilty another go to show he can back it up.

Goodwin mentioned that a raft of Melbourne players will play this week either in JLT or the VFL. Is there a Casey game? Has been referred to in a number of articles but I can't find any specifics.  Be good to know if it's on and when.

I think there are VFL practice matches either this weekend, next weekend or possibly both

Wise idea with Gawn, but who is going to tell him that he doesn't need to play a JLT? Surely he'd feel that the wheels were coming off?

We should and need to play best possible team as last praccy game before season starts and last chance for the team to gel together and with the new rules. All those coming back that are shoe ins for first game need to play at least a half. Naturally no one goes flat chat and we hope no injuries.

Gawn may/may-not  need the hitout, but the rest of the midfield need him in there...  as does the rest of the team.

Things I'd like to see in JLT 2: 

• Pruess to time his jumps and use his body size to impose himself in the ruck more. Feel free to hurt someone legally for my amusement also.  
• Hunt to show us he isn't just a gifted runner and has improved decision making and disposal. If he can't get it right now then my hope for him becoming anything more than the embodiment of roadrunner will start to fade. 
• Tmac to kick a bunch and turn around last weeks thumping so he can go into round 1 with a clear mind and no second guesses
• Meaningful inside 50 delivery. Please. 
• Goody to pull out a few tricks I'm not nearly creative enough to imagine myself 
• Zero injuries. Not even a hurt feeling. 

with a truncated preseason, i personally think it's vital to run out with general game plan

fortunately, brisbane seem likely to do the same, and - like port - they play tall to a certain degree, with all of martin, smith / mcinerney in support, plus hipwood and mcstay likely to rotate through their forward line

if it's six on the pine, i'd personally be interested in seeing:

i see no point in the likes of jones, viney, or melksham playing vfl praccy game as, even coming off the bench with reduced minutes, afl-level intensity will give a much better gauge as to whether or not they're 'right' for round 1

I love the way Chris Fagan is developing the Lions. They will beat a few fancied teams this year and gave us a good run for our money in round 2 last year.

I can agree easily with your logic. I don’t even think they need a full game. 

Just a good hit out and no injuries. Might also only run Gawn for 3 quarters.

scoreboard is irrelevant getting the game plan smooth and working is important

I see what you’re getting at, but I also think they might want to give the Gawn/Preuss forward/ruck combo a proper try out before taking it into a match where premiership points are at stake.  I suppose we’ll find out soon enough.

That was one of the big stories of last weekend.

T Mac was absolutely slaughtered last week by Rance. A very poor performance from him, albeit coming off minor surgery. Needs to rebound this week.

A lot our premiership hopes rest on T Mac's shoulders and we can ill afford a down year from him.

Would like to see more of an even and consistent performance this week. Last week we went from a million bucks in the first qtr to letting Richmond waltz out of our defence with absolutely no pressure in the middle two qtrs. Our comeback in the last qtr coincided with Martin, Cotcin and possibly Prestia being rested.

I wouldn't think too much into this. Playing footy in 40 degree weather doesn't tell us much other than it's too bloody hot to be playing footy.

I'd like to add:

• Angus Brayshaw to hit a target by (either) foot
• ANB without the fumbles
• Kielty with a little more game time.
• Viney unscathed in particular.

I wouldn't read anything into his game last week. Every chance TMac was out there for a run, not to set the world on fire. Looked to me like he was camped in the fwd 50, instead of getting up the ground too much. 

In a proper game I'd expect that he move up and down the ground using his tank to get back to create opportunities  when his opponent just can't go with him anymore. Plus, the way to beat Rance is to play a smarter smaller player - Melky would be perfect, so he follows them around but can't get across to spoil as he's got to give them some respect.
