Injury List - Season 2019

The problems with so many returning are:

1. Guys who have missed a significant amount of time are more likely to get injured again
2. Those guys will often perform below expectations, particularly May and Lever with high expectations
3. The other players will be disrupted as their won't be cohesion in the best 22 and many will be looking over their shoulders worried about their spot in the side. I can see it already, a fringe player has a bad week (ie. Josh Wagner) and gets dropped for a returning player (ie. Lewis) who then performs worse than the fringe player would've.

We really need a month without further injuries, the bye week to allow for some rest and main group training and some of the current side to really lock in their places to really get any benefit from returning players.

The biggest winner from all this,  in the shorter term,  will be the Casey Demons...  apart from the Players themselves,  of course.

KK is over his concussion symptoms and ready to go.   The cavalry is coming.

I'll say it again -  win vs GWS, whatever it takes.

Wasn’t he over the concussion issues during the preseason?

Tell me you're not suggesting a needle regime there?

Cavalry is on the horizon. I agree. Whilst unlikely...  If we roll the Giants, it’s still game on.

The bonus has been games for Hore Lockhart Petty Baker CWagner Keilty.

Anyone who thinks MFCSS is some sort of joke, read this post.

Only on Demonland could we have someone post something this negative about players finally returning from injury.

Just for  1 game.

Relying on you to tip us in Binman! You've been spot on tipping recently

I'm not quite sure where i stand on this game yet yeater.

Much will depend on selection and how the three boys who were concussed come up. All three are important, for different reasons.

We need ANBs run as GWS will 100% look to use the width of the G, though not as much as say the Hawks, Pies or WC. The they will look to use the corridor more but still we need runners to cover them.

Smith gives at the contest and up forward and the player who can play as a defensive forward on Shaw. And personally i hope they don't pick Preuss and Smith gives us that option.

And Salem is the most critical of those three as we simply can't afford not have by far our best kick not playing this game.

I've gone off Lewis to be honest and i think he will play out the season at Casey once Lever is back but i wonder if he comes in for Friiter or Stretch (although Stretch isn't like for like). But they also might decide not to make any changes and back the 22 from last game.

So i'll keep my power dry until the final teams are announced  Friday night.

The MFC website still says he's 1-2 weeks away, sounds as though physically he's fine it's just getting him confident in his recovery that's what holding him back. Surely Gus and Jetta would be great people for him to be chatting to, both were in a very similar position to him.

I think DS makes a good point in his post Titan.

Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney, Jones and Harmes all had very interrupted preseasons and it has taken them until now (pretty much) to reach anything like last years form.  Whilst I too am very pleased we look like getting some soldiers back let's not kid ourselves that they will be anywhere near their best.

I watched Lever last week and apart from one good pack mark he was very ordinary.  That's not a criticism, just an observation.  May has played what?  One and a half games this season after an interrupted preseason.  KK has played very little in the last 2 years.  Hannan hasn't played at all this year and missed preseason and JKH has missed half a season. Add to that Melk, Jetts and AVB are a long way away and whilst it will be good to have a number back and we will be better for it I think peoples expectations about what those players might be able to achieve is optimistic.  If it takes them as long as it took our mids to find their mojo the season will be just about over.

There's a pulse but IMO we are on life support. And that's not MFCSS, that's just logic.

I like the new injury update format on the website.

In particular I like the rebranding of 4-6 weeks to 4-5 weeks. 4-6 had become toxic and am hoping the rebrand works and if it doesn't I'll blame Gary Pert.

There's always someone who is managed worse...

Essendon have acknowledged that Joe Daniher will miss the rest of the season with recurrence of OP. Second year in a row!

It reminds me of the Jetstar flight times - always say it's an extra 10-15 minutes, so you're always pleasantly surprised that 'yet again' you've arrived early.

I think in 'org speak' - its called - expectation management :)

Just saw that. Im sure they are fuming over at bomber land. I do HOPE we're smarter with May and don't rush him to appease the supporters. Id rather he was long term right.

Another wannabe comedian

Its the only way a MFC supporter remains sane.

To take the MFC seriously is folly of the highest order.

Yep wise to kiss 2019 good bye as we are not going anywhere fast this year.

Correct...

Goodwin - 4-6 weeks would've been much funnier

Yes GYM I should have thought about it a bit longer.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
