Has there been any word on when the AGM will be this year?  Last year was mid December.

I've always enjoyed going to that, hearing from the CEO, the coach and being introduced to the new players.

2 weeks today. Monday 17th Dec .  6.30 start in MCC Members  dining Room. Worth going to to hear Pert. (and Goodwin obviously)

If Perty has a folder labeled 'True Blood' saved on his club issued laptop then serious questions start needing to be asked.

c) made one year out after he left Collingwood. While some mention, and quite fairly I might add, that PJ left Essendon under a slight cloud, he had also had two years out of the game. It seems Pert has jumped from one job pretty much after he left his last one. Are his batteries fully recharged and have the lessons of how things ended at Collingwood sunk in?

For every person who thinks one year out of the game is not enough to recharge there will be another who thinks that anything longer would be too long and too hard to get back in.

I admire Pert for taking on this job. Without denigrating Jackson, there was a lot of low hanging fruit when he arrived. He picked all that off and then went on to the more difficult matters and will be rightly remembered as one of the best CEOs the club has ever had. So Pert comes into a job where all the "easy fixes" have already been done and will have to suffer the inevitable comparisons with his immediate predecessor. He would be smart and experienced enough to know that, so I admire him for taking on what has become difficult job to be seen to be successful in.

Suspect he is ramping up his planning for the new training venue after the win by labour and we will hear from him when they have an update. That's what I'm hoping anyway!

There is no harm in dreaming Demons1854!

Thanks all, for the AGM info  ?

Interesting JTR I emailed the club a month ago asked the date of the AGM. They replied with the date and said it will be up soon on the web site. Just checked and I cannot see it.

Obviously their idea of "soon" and mine are different.

I cannot see it either.

Three people here have said 17th @6.30pm  though, so I guess t was published somewhere?  ?

I suspect Mr Pert has discovered that working for the Pies was a walk in the park compared to the MFC. The answer to almost all questions would be "We cannot afford that"

I believe Pert will be on SEN this morning with Whateley.

On face value an impressive interview.

He has a clear view of his role and his priorities are to grow the club and get the new facilities in place.  Seems to have worked hard to engage existing managers and stakeholders.

Time will tell how it works out but if he achieves those goals, I won't get too hung up on the odd issue that might arise.

I really like Pert and I think he will surprise many. Following in PJ's footsteps was always going to be a tough gig no matter who got the job. Proof will be in the pudding. I think we need to give him time to put runs on the board before he gets tarred and feathered or compared to his predecessor who effectively saved the club by turning them around from laughing stock to genuine contender.

Will love to see Pert and Jako have a Beer ? together down the track, celebrating a victory.

Gary Pert has the opportunity to make the Melbourne Football Club a “Big” Club, as it should be. It can be done, if it is built properly, it was in Bartlett’s original speech to the members....

i think he will succeed

I think the most interesting thing he said was that we had 3 or 4 options for the training/admin/supporter base and one of them was Yarra Park.

Many on here have undersold the club by thinking that Yarra Park was the only option. This is a club now run by serious people and they are not going in without a thorough planing and options.

It is also clear to me that the base we are looking at will be somewhere in or around the MCG/Laver sporting precinct.

Exciting times ahead on and off field.

The fact he thinks we need it now, along with a meeting place for fans.

To be honest I have been waiting for our new CEO to talk to us about his expectations about our Great Club and I guess SEN was a good way to break the "Ice", Whateley is a confident interviewer and I did feel reassured that he is the man for the job and I am glad that Mahoney stuck around to support the club with his expertise.

@Colin B. Flaubert do you feel more reassured after Pert's interview on SEN?

Hard to say as I live overseas Moonie.

Usually people with experience tend to tread warily in these situations and I would expect no different from Perty.

So long as he didn't announce the relaunch of Whiteboard Wednesday, I won't panic too much.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
