You're just making that up...

They thought he had the contagious enthusiasm to make the campaign work.

Met Matt in Adelaide last year at the Dees Crows game and a had a solid 5 minute convo, seemed like a genuine bloke who loved the clubs and his job. wish him well.

So, does anyone actually know why he's leaving, and where he's going?

As others have said, seemed like he loved the club, and did his best to put a positive spin on things, even when there wasn't much to be positive about.  All the best to him whatever his future may be.

Geezus, can you lot imagine how hard it would have been to interview our players after yet another flogging, year after sodding year?

Guy deserves a medal of some sort.

Thanks for all your efforts Burgs, I will be happy to donate a kidney to replace the one you lost drinking heavily after trying to put a positive spin on our rank performances for so many years.

Respect brother.

Sorry to see you go Burgs you will be missed. You have the love for the players and the club. ln doing your interviews you showed your passion in the good and bad times with your articulated thoughts. Good luck on your new venture. A Demon for life.

Had a good chat with Burgs at a bar one night a few years back - his heart beats true .

thanks for the work Burgo - I reckon he has a future in footy media if he wants it.

Personally I'm a little indifferent to his reporting style, but respect the effort, passion and professionalism he bought to the role.  Sounds like the dream job of every hardcore Demons fan, but I'm sure it would be far harder to pull the gig off than first meets the eye.

Any chance of turning the tables on him and getting him on the Demonland podcast?  Perhaps we could Max on and have him interview Burgs?

His Sunshine Coast training camp stories were an enjoyable read.

I wonder who his replacement will be?

I do, not his decision, will leave it at that

"thinking" and "mark robinson" in the same sentence, ldvc?  ?

Actually, I edited my own post before I finalised it. I was going to say "Are you thinking the journalist Mark or the former footballer Russell" but thought describing Mark as a "journalist" was really stretching it.

Sorry to hear that, Saty.  I appreciated his efforts in acting as a link between the players/coaches & supporters.  I hope something works out for him, and would like to wish him all the best!

Hope the club treated him with dignity, respect and some appreciation for the difficult job he had over recent years.

As others have said, he came across as a genuine guy with a love for the club.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
