Farewell Jesse Hogan

Recommended Posts

If Hogan ends up staying, he better sign a long term deal. If this is just him going “yeah nah I’m gonna wait until next year to go to West Coast”, I would be incredibly [censored].

The worst case scenario is that his foot is stuffed. Such a Melbourne thing to happen.

Time for Josh Mahoney to give supporters an update...

Why ?  His job is to trade. That requires only telling anyone what's required. Not us.

We'll know when we do. My life isn't going to be any different whether I know anything today..or in a week. Will yours ?

Let him do his job ..his way.

Sounds to me that Peter Bell is trying to get across the state of their list ASAP, and whether there are other issues that he has to tick off before they can process Hogan, Lobb and Neale in and out of the club. Looks like a power play going on behind the scenes at Freo! (Not sure if Bell v Lyon v Rosich, or Bell v Lyon/Rosich) Feels like the latter, and that Bell might have been put in there by the board.

With all that said it's a horrible look that the CEO is looking after list management .... Bell is their footy manager, they don't have a list manager currently. Club is looking very reactive atm!

If we pull off a trade with Freo for Hogan, I'd almost be tempted to request 5 and next years first round pick, cos there is a chance you could land the 2019 number 1 pick out of the trade..

After 200+ pages, ain't this the truth about what is holding this process up.   As Ouch has pointed out the CEO....the CEO!!! is doing the negotiations in the public domain......imagine PJ coming out during trade period saying we will or will not accept XYZ for a particular player!

Bell is Football manager and now he is doing the negotiations after being there for 5 minutes!

It's all well and good for everyone to surmise what will/will not be a good/suitable trade, but if you don't know who you are really trading with, it makes the job almost impossible.

To top it off Freo has pick 6 at the moment.  Their next pick is 80!  There is no way they can improve their position for next year, so asking for their next years first rounder may be a piece of true inspiration.

Fair enough, but how about stating your source and what level of credibility you give them when posting.  I'm sick of posts which make some bold assertion without giving me any background to enable me to judge its reliability.

I take it you don't like reading newspapers, Sue?

This is just becoming a bit of a joke now. I might sound melodramatic, but the toing and froing, the he’s staying and he’s leaving, is truly exhausting

If so, it's self inflicted. Be good to yourself. Treat yourself to a break and come back in 10 days and find out what happened, or not. The outcome will be the same regardless of what happens on here, in the papers, on trade radio, etc.

I just want to know what is happening because it is exhausting – one minute I am prepared for him to leave, the next I am excited that he will stay only to find out he is leaving again. It is farcical.

Whether you buy in to the nuttiness or not is completely up to you.

Why would any skilled negotiator tell the hoards what is happening and what they have planned?  The only information they would think of releasing would be mis-information and that is not a good idea long term. No, I applaud our team and expect no news until deals are done or not going to be done. Well done Dees!

You're right, it is. But anything that is a great distraction or form of procrastination from work or study is addictive and unfortunately, this is where I have found myself haha

but you have balanced my thoughts...i will continue to read, without buying!

You do realise you can do medical exeminations without the running? All they would need is a copy of medical report on his foot from the specialist he saw down here.

Even if hes foot was fine, some medicals don't require running.

He's definitely done a medical at Freo.

You’re saying exactly what I was dazzle. Any medical would not include a physical component because he’s injured, so they’re going off new and old scans and they had the results before they entered trade negotiations with Melbourne.

Is why I think that component of the story is BS

Here is another way to look at this (no sources, just supposition):

club checked in with Jesse at the end of year - what were his plans?

Jesse (and manager) wanted to ‘explore options’ (Ask Freo if they were serious about all of the honey they have been dripping in Jesse’s ears.  This was supported and encouraged by the club.  Better to maximise value now, if need be.

Club asked Jesse “If you want to go, please tell us by Tuesday”

Josh Had a preliminary chat to Freo, and told them what it would cost if it went ahead - ‘hypothetically’.

Jesse did the tour, and saw how far from anything they were.  Decided not to ask for trade.

Freo now posturing about his lack of interest, to save face.

Jesse in the box seat - still under contract, on holiday.  Can discuss contract extension when he gets back.  Club can put any offer it like to Jesse, he can choose to look at it any time before next year is concluded.

Suggest we can put the cue in the rack until next year, when he will have to make the call either way - stay and sign a longer term arrangement, or go.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die!
