Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Most media pundits don’t want Melbourne to receive two high first rounders for Hogan. They still see is as a minnow club who should do as we’re told and accept what we’re given in the manner of the third born in a poor family. Mark Robinson was on FoxFooty the other night adamant the Dees should not receive two first round picks for Hogan. I wonder why? Could it be that an even stronger Melbourne outfit makes it that much harder for his beloved Bombers to lift another Cup?

Vested interests left right and centre in all this reporting on potential trades. All we need to be concerned about is laying it out very clearly to Freo what we expect in trade and then stick to it. Any media noise that suggests we are being unreasonable or that we are overvaluing Hogan is exactly that ... noise.

I am guessing a lot of this is about Peter Bell trying to make an impression in his new gig at Freo. He’s trying to make himself relevant by landing a big scalp. Here’s hoping he falls flat on his face.

it's funny how we all know how crap and dishonest the sports media are but we still fall for their clickbait and start long threads to discuss their bs. it's a funny world we live in with all this instant net "news"

Don't quite see it quite that way.

It's Bell putting his stamp over proceedings. It's been suggested that the Dockers expressed too much eagerness to open the war chest to get their man. Bell has pulled in the reigns. I believe he still wants Hogan...just trying to hose down the mortgage.

Funnily now I think it more likely to happen than before. I have no trust or respect for some media outlets and contempt for many others. Many journalists are low life ambulance chasers with lower scruples and standards than the worst posters here.  I will not believe that Hogan is being traded until I hear it from the club.

Edit:- Happy to talk about his worth though. 2 early first rounders +

It's not that many weeks ago that we were extolling the virtue of having a pair of big forwards the equal of the best in the league.

We were the highest scoring team this season. I can't see the need to change this style of play.

Losing one of the big two KPF will do nothing to maintain our high scores.

Or am I missing something?

There's an old adage. It's not so much the earnings as the spendings.

Earnings= score ( ours )

Spendings = score ( theirs )

Much is made of our high scoring...and percentage.

Did it win us a flag ? No

We were still beaten too many times.  If we contained others scorelines by 2-3 goals a game .We win more games. If we do this whilst not scoring ( overall , at worst )2 or goals as much a game our % isn't harmed much if any. But again, we win more games. We sit higher on ladder, we play important home finals.

Finals are won by defences. We need to do better.

We can cover Hogan. As good as he is/will be/ maybe we have a front game that with refining is dangerous. We absolutely need to lock down our backyard and control it. Control in the back, chaos upfront.

Whether some like it or not Hogan isn't pivotal to success. A whole working team is. Smith understood that. I think the club does too. It's actually part of what esprit se corps is all about.

In other words a champion team not a team of champions etc

Imho we need what May or such brings to our game more than what Jesse brings. That's not a slight on Jesse...it's about a team, not an individual.

Probably because it means we have a better hand to offer GWS for Shiel!

I don't think he is pivotal to our success, we are just a worse team without him in it. For example, his running/link play, field kicking. Weed/Tmac do not cover this.

no doubt our defence needs work but not at the expense of our fwd line. I reckon he would kick 60+ over the next 7-8 years.

we need to do everything we can to keep him but if he wants to go, not much we can do

I'm sick of hearing radio hosts/sport's commentator's thinking Hogan is only worth a early first round draft pick. Which we would then use to secure May. I would be staggered if we agreed to that deal. You don't give up a 23 year old KPF that will kick 50+ goals a season for the next 10 years for a 27 year old KPB. Dees need to play hard ball and get two early first rounders for Hogan. No exceptions!

Anyone who thinks Hogan is worth anything less than two first round picks has NFI.

Mahoney on trade radio just said re: Hogan...

"Not sure at the moment, we'll have a conversation about where he's going. He's going to meet with a few different people but he's a chance to leave at this stage."

"We've had conversations with him every trade period about whether he wants to leave, and this year may be the case."

Based on what a few broken down shown-nothing key position forwards have gone for in recent years, right niw Weideman is worth a first round pick. Bizarro garbage to talk of zhogan being worth just the one, even a very good one.

Meanwhile, something today reminded me of Trent Croad. And Fremantle's legendary capacity for terrible trading results.

Prediction: Hogan heads to Freo, does fine but misses the profound bonds with the Demons. Is gutted by missing out on being part of our premiership at the same time as Freo just completely flat-lines with nothing but rubble left when they finally sack Ross Lyon. After a couple of years, feeling more mature and with family settled happily again, Hogan returns to the Demons for half what we gained in the original trade and proceeds to kick 70 a season for the next 5 years. A good time is had by all.

That tells me he is gone but WCE might just be in the mix????

I hope that's not the case because let's be honest we will get a [censored] load more from Freo than WCE

This is actually VERY interesting... considering Mahoney went on record saying we had cap space for 1 or 2 big names earlier in the year.

Possibly we have a big arrival we do not know about just yet?

Edit: Typo

It’s crystal clear now, Jesse will leave unless he doesn’t and we will get May unless we don’t.

Agree, I think Joshy has a few tricks up his sleeve and I wouldn't be surprised to see 1-2 decent names as well as May here. And to think we had been chasing Gaff so what are these rascals up to, hmmm............

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
