Irrespective of the Jessie situation, people need to understand that clubs lie, players lie, AFL officials lie and Managers lie.

Itย is an art form in AFL football.

And journalists (at best) mislead. It wouldnโ€™t surprise me if he actually heard from a credible source that Hogan may not play another game for freo, but heโ€™s got to exercise a bit of journalistic integrity about that information.ย

Firstly weโ€™re dealing with a young man that is taking time out due to mental health issues. Is there any room for compassion?

Secondly itโ€™s actually not that muchย of a stretch to say itย with nothing to back it up. Given everything heโ€™s gone through, and the fact that we recently had another young player retire from mental health problems inย Tom Boyd, itโ€™s an easy thing to sayย and Iโ€™m sure people were already thinking it.ย

The way heโ€™s chosen to go with this story has shown himself to be nothing more than a gutter, tabloid journalist who wants to have his name quoted in multiple news sources.ย

I think most people have compassion and empathy for Jesse and his situation, but obviously footballers ย are news as we all know and their lives and situations are media fodder.

A story like him not playing again is big news and that is the business journos are in,ย so we donโ€™t need to shoot the messenger, ย whether he is right or wrong, he is doing his job. ย I am sure he has heard something, as he wouldnโ€™t just make up something that is totally wrong, ย as he would look a fool.ย
Even Robbo in his article, said he may never play for Freo again, actually repeating the original piece, but then including a statement from Bell, who denied him leaving, but not that he might never play for them again.

If Jesse retired, after a few days of headlines you wouldnโ€™t hear his name mentioned again. ย

Lastly, ย I personally feel very sorry for a kid who I thought could be the next Carey, with allย he has and still is enduring. I hope he gets back to full health.

It sounds like Freo have tried to put some pressure on Jesse via media scuttlebut to get his socialย life in order, which would ideally help him handle any mentalย health Issues.ย
Classicย ย good cop (club), bad cop (media speculation) routine being played out. Itโ€™sย amateur, disrespectful and self fulfilling, in thatย if thatโ€™s how Freo handle players going through such issues and times, it contributes to making itย unlikely Jesse will play footy for them again.

Generally, I agree with your sentiments about Jesseโ€™s recovery and also in general about not shooting the messengers.

However, it should be known that the messengers in this instance are well know for flinging about questionable scuttlebutt and their message about Jesse doesnโ€™tย ย deserve to be given much credibility if at all.

I have testimony to that effect, from gun batsmen who faced me on a hat trick at Central Park: what would you know about cricket anyway?

Letโ€™s not pretend that everything is fine and there isnโ€™t an issue with hogan.ย
ย

He hasnโ€™t been right for yearsย and it isnโ€™t a stretch that he might never play football again.ย
ย

Heโ€™sย had both on and off field issues and it wouldnโ€™t surprise me that he has multiple recreational drug violations.

Thereย are several videos where is completely off his face.ย

Then there was the car crash incident that was totally swept under the carpet.

Freo wouldnโ€™t be doing the trade with dees if the knew what was going to transpireย

ย

I think Bell had worked out that itย  might not be a smooth ride with Jesse, and wanted to pull out of the trade. I recall that was announced on a Friday. By Monday, the higher ups at Freo, panicked by the thought of telling their supporter base that they'd let this rolled gold forward slip through their fingers, told Bell what was what and the trade was back on.

Take it to the bank, Hogan has asked management of any chance he can be traded back to Melbourne in 2020 trade period. Seeks a fresh start away from bad influences in WA

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
