I’ve heard from a source I trust very much that Fremantle have been an absolute nightmare for Brisbane to deal with in the lachie Neale trade. I can only imagine that’s been the same with the hogan situation. They’re asking massive overs from Brisbane and keep saying he’s contracted. I hope we do the same!

Too much sense there DeeSpencer.

In five years the current club administration has hauled itself off the bottom of the ladder, increased its win/loss incrementally EVERY SEASON, recruited marvellously well and finally this year made the eight and won not one but TWO finals.

Boy oh boy there is just no pleasing some people.

Like is insufficient.  Needs repost for emphasis.

Freo on a hiding to nothing here. They need a low first or decent second round pick to get Lobb, but hard to see where it's going to come from, as neither we (Hogan) nor Brisbane (Neale) have one. You'd think that neither our second rounder (36) or Brisbane's (32) wouldn't be enough for GWS.

Complicated.

Yes, complicated.  How to do the Lobb trade is a real dilemma for them and could also be a reason why the Hogan trade is stalling.

Having reflected on the option I posed last night (Hogan for Freo 2018 pick #5 and a swap of 2019 first round picks) Freo could then give our 2019 1st round pick (15 to 18) to GWS for Lobb.

Overall its a good deal for Freo.  They get Hogan and Lobb for Neal and their 2019 1st round pick.  They keep 2018 pick #6 (Neale pick) to take to this years draft.

All clubs get on with life and get other trades done!

Jesus, I thought trade period ended tomorrow.   This garbage goes for another week.

I think it's completely fair enough Freo are playing hard for a big haul for Neale. 25yo, contracted, top 2 in their bnf last 3 years.

It's why we shouldn't concede at all on a big haul for Hogan. If it's not 5 and 6, or 5/6 + freo 2019 1st, then I think we should keep him. Happy to risk losing him for nothing later if not

I'm not that keen on the 2019 pick swap. Competition is so even, some bad injury luck can change the outlook so quickly.

Sorry mate, forgot that any opinion that isn’t yours was garbage. Keep it up with the quality posts such as this one paying out on fellow supporters. Great work.

Dayne beans requests trade back to Collingwood.

Can someone imagine some complicated way this could facilitate the Neale deal?

The Age reporting the Freo board has met to discuss Hogan deal!  Bigger than Ben Hur!

You  think they might have gathered together a little earlier than this hey.  Somehow this seems a little shambholic to me. oh wait...the jesse deal...maybe we could get him...lets have emergency meeting of the board to see if we want him. This has been known for at least a month and probably more and theyve been chasing hi for YEARS. . As a side point...Seven  smart people sitting together doesnt ensure  a stupid decision wont be reached .

You hope that you keep your bet players at the club. Sometimes l wonder if   Hogan wants to go however the FD are sick of it as well.

Trade him for first round No 5 and Brayshaw's  young brother and the deal is done. No other deal plain and simple and if the answer is no cut the losses and keep him.Somehow l don't think he wants to go. IMO.

Come on, isn't it more likely that they are being asked to make a final decision on a deal which is out of the ordinary.

TBH IF he is going to be traded and considering we want May, I don't really care anymore what the deal is, as long as we are left with pick 5.

If GC are happy to take the rest of what we get, whatever it is and we can wrap KK into the deal somehow, or do it separately for an acceptable pick, then I would be happy.

I think it is really about what we are left with after getting May. If it is pick 5 then fantastic, as that is a very good player, or the opener for more deals.

Ok..but  Im still really surprised that they're meeting in the middle of trade Week. Feels very last minute and another way to stall. But to be fair I really dont know how these things are usually organised.

Brisbane - collingwood trade will take so long.

Freo will wait to see what Brisbane get for Beams.

This hogan deal will get done in the last minute of the trade period :(

It's posts like these that expose the soft underbelly of some supporters.

I'm happy to put my hand up and say I am thrilled with the progress we have made, but that doesn't mean we all need to blindly agree with the club on everything and believe that the club doesn't now make mistakes.

Perhaps you are easily pleased but I want to win a premiership and believe that a dogmatic, ruthless approach is what is required from here with the dealings with Fremantle.

The positive is that Collingwood cannot land Beams and May, hopefully they go for Beams as he has specifically stated he wants to go to collingwood. Then it's a one horse race for May, and GC lose much of it's bargaining power.

At least if Collingwood go after Beams it would be less likely they have anything left to trade for May, which means it doesn’t really matter how long it takes as we will get May once all the dealings done.

Know when to fold em

Know when to walk away

Know when to run

"the rest made sense... simply omitted for brevity "

Pretty much it comes down to the fact the Dees are happy to trade Hogan for a reasonable deal, not just the massive mega deal. If they weren't it wouldn't have got this far.

The whole post made far too much sense. Many won't get it. Many don't WANT to get it. It plays with the sensibilities of some to tamper with idea that what is supposed , might not be after all.

This is exactly the metric that the club uses.

The MFC is seeking to address issues about balance and game style/plan. It looks holistically at as situation and has an idea of redress.

That's where it differs from most here who cling fanatically to the emotional investment they have of players.

The club will do what it needs to. It's about outcomes. Freo is about outcomes too. Problem is they're that stuffed they're trying to accomplish too much in one period and have unrealistically put values on things.( Both ways )

But it is what it is. You play the cards you have. There IS trade next year but we need to achieve certain things THIS trade to further our progress next season. These are the real parameters of trade not the nonsense spouted by some.

Go Dees...get it done.

With Dayne Beams now wanting to go back to the Pies I smell a complicated four way trade involving him Hogan, Neale, Tom Langdon and picks involved.

Funny how so many are fixated on relieving their anxiety as opposed the quality of outcome.

It's not about getting it done in the next 5 mins. It's about getting it done within the available time.

Make it so Dees

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
