Looks like he is staying now, based on what Maxy said at the b and f

Has it even started...?

He was interviewed by Stevo not long ago on 7News and Jones said similar things to what he said when Luke Darcy questioned him. However according to Stevo, Melbourne has said Hogan didn't ask for a trade when he last met with Goody. He's still gawn I reckon.

I read somewhere that the idea of being traded wasn’t initiated by Hogan but he was open to it. I still think he’s 100% gone.

Agreed I would be shocked if he was there next year.

If my memory serves me correctly, yes he did.

The bottom line is that Tommy probably isn't going to be offered the deal of a lifetime as I suspect Jesse has been offered.  Of course,  we don't know that for sure with T-Mac but it's unlikely.

At a guess I reckon Tom would be on 400k-500k per year whilst Jesse is reportedly being offered a long term deal at $1.2Million per year.  Jesse is formally from WA so the deal makes sense given Fremantle's situation & standing.

From all accounts Jesse has been well looked after at Melbourne & well remunerated so if there is a parting of the ways then it would be hoped that we are more than well compensated.

He said he fully expects Hogan to be an MFC player next year.

Media speak I would say

I am none the wiser.

Might know more after a few drinks.

Here's the report, nothing new but a slightly more careful and rehearsed response from Jonesy compared to Saturday. Maxy similar straight bat below

Yep, trotting out the club line. Wonder whether the footy department was worried that all of the "we understand his situation" talk was undermining their negotiating position.

Well, maybe this has been a complete waste of time after all.

To be honest it's essentially the first we've heard of the "club line" through this entire saga. Gut feel is he's gone but really hoping he's staying.

Jesse is at the b and f

One thing's for sure, I'm sick of this being a media story every single off season.

I can't think of another player so consistently linked with moving back interstate.

I understand the whole club talk of “he’s a contracted player”, he is a “Melbourne man” etc., but there was something more convincing in Gawn’s statement. To say he expects to see Hoges in red and blue next year is quite strong because if it is true he is homesick, to put expectations on a teammate and friend that is struggling just isn’t in Gawn’s character. I might be overanalysing but I felt like Gawn’s statement was genuine.

Oh well, it is just a waiting game I guess

Certainly no other player linked to interstate move every year but Jack Watts’ name was brought up almost every fricken trade period.

What colour do you get when you mix red and blue?

Bingo.

Sounds like we are going to dig our heels in, do a bit of posturing of our own. Good stuff.

This thing has the potential to drag on late into trade week if Freo think we’re just going to accept pick 5 and packet of Samboy chips for him.

Jesse has to stay. Health care for smoking related respiratory diseases is so much better on the east coast.

Gawn better stay for the same reason! ?

lol, you guys really don't like smokers huh?.. funny.

Craig Smoker was ok in his debut year, but then went off to Carlton as I recall.  Maybe wanted to be with John Elliott.

No deal he [Weed] put in his best games in the last month of the season however he is still to prove he is a 22 game player in 2019.

The whole list need to prove that - and make that 25 or 26 games thanks.

Weed was horrid in the prelim.

And please name someone who was not.

So goodbye to all our depth.

Out: Hogan, Kent, Tyson, Vandenberg, Pedersen, Vince, Bugg

I'm worried

Depth smepth. The only player we lose that has any bearing on anything is Hogan, and I’m very optimistic we’ll come out in front on that one.

Our 2019 list will look better than our 2018 list.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
